Sleep ---

Just curious if anyone has ever taken Halcion to help sleep. It has helped me a great deal through the WD process and now I am on day 9 and still cant sleep at night very well. I tried to use benedryl last night because I am well aware that Halcion is a BENZO and that is bad. Not really though, I have never liked that feeling. Opiates are my DOC. I just want to sleep. I fell asleep with the benedryl, but I woke up at 1:00 with some sweats and anxiety that I really didnt expect this far in. Let me know what you guys think. I only have a few left and cant get any more, so it will be a null issue soon.

any toughts

Re: Sleep ---

D -- no, I've never taken it and don't know anything about it, but boy, can I sympathize. I am stuck on Ambien every night. It doesn't even give me the nice pleasant buzz that it used to, but I can't sleep without it now and I'm on the 12.5 sustained-release stuff. I'm not going to attempt to deal with it until I'm off the Oxy.

Do you think the sweats last night were due to the lack of Halcion? Should that maybe be a taper as well? Just some thoughts. It does seem odd that you would suddenly have WD symptoms when you're off the stuff (Oxy) over a week.

Sorry to not be of much help here.....

Re: Sleep ---

I have been watching all this research on sleep and not getting enough can make you very ill. You may need to try an antidepressent for the sweats and anxiety. Lexapro is a very clean antidepressant that has helped me a lot. When I had my back surgery and tapered I became clinically depressed and could not understand why. My Dr. gave me samples of the Lexapro and within 10 days I felt like my old self. I do not think that it needs to be a life long thing a six month stint could offer you some real relief. I think it would help you in after care. Just my two cents. Good luck and that anxiety stuff is killer in the middle of the night. Horrible. hang in there.

Re: Sleep ---

Hey D,

My Doctor has me on 10mgs of libriun 3 times a day and just started me on Lamictal 25mgs at bedtime. I am told the lamictal is for my hypomania and will level me off which it seems to be doing but I have only been on that for about a week.

I sleep like a baby. I don't usually get a full 8 hrs but I can get about 6 hrs and usually more.

I also have a few xanax he's perscribed for me if I get an anxiety attack but I have not had to use them. I know what they can do to me if I like the way they make me feel. The xanax are .25 mg tabs and the doc only gave me a few so I don't get in trouble

The doc didn't give me very many of any of these meds and I have to visit him every two weeks to see how I am doing. He lets me know if I should still keep taking them or start weaning off. He has kept me steady since I quit the pillz.

When I was having sleeping problems I would take a couple of the PM pain relievers (over the counter) and that would get me 4 to 6 hrs some of the time but I had many nights with 2 hrs or less. I feel for you Bud but is does go away and you get back to normal.

Have a great day,

Peace.
