Alright....first off a little background. I am 23 years old. I have been married for a year in May...I have been with him for almost 4 years. We have a little girl who is 9 months old. Prior to her being born I had 3 miscarriages...2 of which I opted to have chromosomal testing done on and they came back completely normal. The 3rd gynocologist I saw diagnosed me as having low progesterone and put me on supplements. I ended up carrying to term.
Second. I have for the past three years been battling nausea, extreme diarreah or extreme constipation. I tried to use Magnesium Sulfate (a doctor recommended) for the constipation...and all I did was vomit feces. I went to several doctors...one of whom included a gastroenterologist. Noone listened. Finally, after MUCH research, I requested a HIDA scan and it was determined I had a non-functional gallbladder. So surgery was scheduled...but thats when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter. Fast foward...I had my gallbladder removed the beginning of February 2008. My gallbladder was completely full of gallstones...I recovered very quickly.
However, I am still experiencing the nausea, vomiting, diarreah, severe back pain, severe migraines, insomnia, fatigue, depression and anxiety. Over the course of the past three years I have been on more prescriptions then I can count. I am currently on Paxil for the depression and anxiety and Skelaxin for the back pain. Not to mention Phenergan tablets for nausea. I have found that the Paxil does greatly reduce my depression...but does not reduce the anxiety...and the Skelaxin only works if I couple it with Tylenol PM or the phenergan.
Now...after that much winded medical history. Here is my question.
1. Why in the world would a 23 year old be SO sick all the time? I haven't been able to hold down a job in 3 years!
Also, I have found that due to the medication i am taking not working...I have INCREASED the dosage of what I am required to take on the Phenergan and Skelaxin. I have unlimited refills....so I take it until I feel slightly loopy. I have a HIGH tolerance and this is when I normally know its working. Would you say I am addicted? I also have found that since taking the Paxil I have had an INTENSE urge to drink.
I am still able to function completely normally. I am a stay at home mother and my house is impeccably clean, my daughter WAY ahead developmentally...(the doctors say likely due to the care I provide her). However, I worry that eventually it will affect my family. I cannot get a doctor in this town to acknowlege my problem and I feel like I need to ask POINT BLANK for certain tests etc. Does anyone have ANY advice....support...somthing? I feel like I am all alone and I almost feel like maybe I am completely crazy. I know my husband is starting to feel that way as well.
PLEASE PLEASE HELP! I have an appointment with my family practitioner on Monday and I would like to know what I should ask for!
