ADHD 7 year old Not ADD

It seems to me that this board is only about add. I need advice on ADHD. My son exhibits more of the hyperactivity. I was told that he has pervasive disorder it is along the lines of autism.

He is on focalin. Was on concerta which worked well but we switched because we were told Focolin helps with appitite. Both worked well but when it wears of all hell breaks loose. Around 3:00 when he gets home from school. We do not want to give him any more stimulants it really effects his appetite. I would love to find something that would calm him down in the evening.
It seems as if while he is school he does so well that he holds his hyperactivity in until her gets home.

Any suggestions would be wonderful.

I think one of the first things you should try, if you haven't already, is to keep him away from any type of sugar. Maybe see how his level of b vitamins are also.

Re: ADHD 7 year old Not ADD

My son is ADHD with ODD. He had been on Adderal but it had no effect on him one way or the other. He is now on Ritalin LA and 2 doses of regular Ritalin, nothing seems to be helping. And he has lost 5 pounds. Not great when he only weighed 62 to begin with. I am considering taking him to behavioral therapy to see if he can learn some self-control techniques that could help in addition to the meds. At his next appointment I am asking for his meds to be changes since the regimen he is on now is having no positive affect and a negative affect of weight loss.

I hope you can find something to help. I know my son has said before that he tries to hold things in while at school so his friends don't think he is weird.
