duration of anxiety attack effects

Approx 48 hours ago, I went to the ER for what I thought was a drug reaction, but was diagnosed as a panic attack, since I have gone to the ER for one before. I had extreme leg tremors, felt like I was losing control of my mental and physical abilities, etc. Since returning home, I have spent the majority of time sleeping, and still feel 'drugged'. When should I be back to normal? I am on Effexor XR 150 mg, Alprazolam .25 mg., and was just put on Nexium as a trial for indigestion. I also take an herbal remedy for menopause symptoms ( hot flashes). I get a lot of headaches, so I take Excedrin Migraine for that.

Re: duration of anxiety attack effects

Hi there- sorry to hear about your ER visit- have been there before several times myself and it is a horrid time....I hope they helped you there?
I can't say how long you will have tremors- its a rotten feeling- they aren't caused by the medication? When you are feeling a bit stronger would you consider seeing a Naturopath or someone in that field. They can often be really helpful with recommending vitamins or minerals that are anxiety ridden bodies are depleted in- like magnesium and zinc etc- and B vitamins. Of course i don't think they are the answer in the middle of a major PA ( my "fond" name for panic attack) but i am sure they can help as well. Thank god for Clonazepam i say!
I have read that menopause and all the hormone fluctuations can make anxiety and depression alot worse... so maybe this bad time will pass when your hormones settle down a bit? Hoping you feel ok and not so panicky soon- feel for you!!
