Question How long does it take to feel better after going back on meds?

Hi again - I posted a few days ago about experiencing withdrawl from Zoloft. I've since gone back on them (it has been almost a week) but am not feeling any better. I know it takes more than a month for Zoloft to kick in when you first go on it - but is it the same time period for feeling better when you return to it? I;m still feeling extremely anxious, depressed, nasous, nervous and most of all experiencing constant dread that my boyfriend is about to end our relationship. I can't seem to shake the feelings of unease or clear my head of negative thoughts and it's driving me insane. Just want to feel happy again and am scared I won't get back to that place...

Thanks.

Re: How long does it take to feel better after going back on meds?

Hi there!
So glad I found your post! I feel exactly the same! I have been on it for 2 weeks now after going off and I am also full of anxiety, heavy depressed and I feel like I am going insane! I always had that fear that my boyfriend will leave me or wouldn't understand, is anyone ever going to understand!! The Zoloft just needs some time to kick in, can't tell you when but it will and when it does you will be where you want to be, happy again!
If it helped you once it can do it again! My side effects are so bad that I have rapid heart beats and my blood pressure is looow! But that will go away right! I also have these negative thoughts that doesn't seem to go away and it is really hard! Seems we have the same situation1

Talking Re: How long does it take to feel better after going back on meds?

Hi Emsyy and Nina,
So sorry you are going through this bad patch.
But both of you know that it will pass. It just needs time. I do not know anything about Zoloft but I do know about Cipralex.
All medicines need some time to take off, but once they do, they really work. Cipralex takes about 2-3 weeks but you already feel a little different every day. So it is a matter of having a little faith to Zoloft which seems so popular in the USA. This must mean something!.
Good luck to both of you..
Keep up your faith and keep posting to let us know how you are doing.

Re: How long does it take to feel better after going back on meds?

Hi Thialik. Thanks for your message. I went to my doctor yesterday after having a relapse of anxiety (been on zoloft for 6 years) and she prescribed Cipralex. I am very optimistic about this medication having read many good things online. Zoloft (for whatever the reason) had simply stopped being effective. Keep your fingers crossed that the Cipralex does the trick.

Re: How long does it take to feel better after going back on meds?

I pretty much posted the same thing a few days ago, only I take celexa.Went off it and then back on,and had horrible anxiety for over a month! Just the past 2 days I am feeling abit better,I also had to increase the dosage(per doc's advice) as the former dose wasnt' doing the job anymore...I think maybe when you go off,you become abit resistant when returning to the same med,so a higher dose is more effective.
Good luck!
