Re: spironolactone for acne

Thank you for the kind words. I was just about to book a light from CA to NY before we finally found a doc to prescribe spiro here. I hope everything works out great for you! The mino should help alot while you are waiting. I took it a long time ago and it helped me alot. Except I took it when I got pregnant and it turned my son's teeth brown - grrrr. Worked great on the acne though.

Re: spironolactone for acne

I just happen to see this thread-- so I'm not a regular poster on this board.

One of the problems with Spironolactone is it has a side effect for males-- it Stops there Testosterone harmone.
I took it for potassium control 10 year ago and in 6 months I grew breasts-- not good for a man. It worked well for controlling potassium.

My point is be careful with drugs that you take -- make sure you know how it works and the side-effects.

Well, yeah, men are not supposed to take it. We women like to grow bigger in some places. Yes, we should not take drugs without weighing the pros and cons very carefully. However, when you suffer for years and years with no end in sight no matter what you eat, drink, eliminate, apply, vacuum out, peel or do nothing with, then sometimes drugs are very helpful indeed.
