Rumpled, I am Confused.

Went to the Endo today and she wants me to hold off on returning to Florinef. Something about my body is trying to learn to do what it is supposed to do without the help of the drug. She fears that if I go back on that my body will never learn on its own again, and I will be stuck taking it forever. (That makes sense I guess.) She wants me to give it more time before she makes a decision. It has not been a week yet since I have been off.
She did not seem overley concerned about my changes in blood pressure and heart rate. I got lost here. My pulse goes from 65 at sitting to 80 to 95 when I stand up within about ten seconds.Blood pressure is not changing that much. My pressure is about 90/60 to 100/60 This part does not seem ok to me but she did not seem that worried, and she feels that my new found clumsiness will disppear.
She is also increasing my thyroid meds three days a week to a higher dose.
This is my favorite part.
Once I have been off the florinef for another week, she wants me to begin lowering my cortef dose from 30 mg to 25 take one in the morning, half at lunch and one in the afternoon.
After three weeks I am to cut the noon dose completely. This is supposed to help with my weight loss as well. She said that I will never tolerate less than 20mg of cortef.

I am depressed. I am scared of what will happen next. I already fractured my ankle.

Re: Rumpled, I am Confused.

Fractures may be a sign that you are taking too much cortef... steroids break down the bones. Really, you should get a DEXA scan as breaking bones fairly easily is a danger sign. Are you taking extra calcium and vitamin D?

As long as your BP is going UP when you stand, then, well, that is a good sign. Mine drops. Hopefully the rise in thyroid meds is going to help you. Give that some time.

How again do you take your cortef? You do need to divide your doses... just taking a whopper in the morning is not good enough to get you through the day plus it is not good for the body.

Do you take salt tablets?

Re: Rumpled, I am Confused.

I do not take salt tablets because I have so much swelling.
Blood pressure is still low even though it increases when I stand. It only increases from 90/60 to 90/65. Still upset about my heart rate.
I used to have my pressure drop when I stood up, now it is reversed.
I almost fell again getting into the car this afternoon. My eight year old caught me. Sad huh. Would have been the other foot.
I just have a heirline fracture, so I don't know about the cortef.
I guess I will just obey and see what happens.
