Question Adderrall

I am currently 23 and I tried diagnosing myself with ADD and getting a prescription from a regualar family doctor. I have paranoid schizophrenia and when I was on it I had 3 manic or schizophrenic episodes. I don't know which of the two to call them, but an ambulance was called on me 3 times. I don't know if my body doesn't react well to Adderrall or what. I am wondering if anyone knows about Stratterra. I want to try it out because where I go to the doctor it is federally funded for the poor people. They won't prescribe me for Adderrall or Ritalin because I had went to the hospital a couple of times for it because the Adderrall drove me crazy a couple of times. I can't get a hold of any Stratterra from my district clinic because it's federally funded and they don't carry it. Does anyone have any suggestions about what I should do. Is Concerta any better and has less side effects than the Adderrall. If so should I go pay about 200 dollars to see my personal doctor instead of for free at the district clinic and ask for Concerta? My district clinic will not prescribe it to me because of my past. Does anyone have advice that would help me please?

Re: Adderrall

Concerta is the same as Ritalin. Strattera is the only ADD drug that is not the same as, or almost the same as, Adderall or Ritalin.

If you had to be taken to the hospital while on Adderall, it's probably not the drug for you.

Rather than getting prescriptions from your family doctor, you should probably see a psychiatrist. If you have a serious mental health problem, or are taking meds for your schizophrenia, you need an expert to figure out how a new drug will affect things.

Re: Adderrall

Also remember, Strattera is a non-stimulant drug, you will have to take it for at least a month for any results, it didn't work for me, but everyones different. It's also not a controlled drug so if it works you can get refills without a visit to the doc. I'm currently on Adderall XR but on a low dose working my way up. I hope you find something to help you.
