?? about testosterone after hyst

I had my hysterectomy middle of May. The doc removed my ovaries, cervic, and of course, uterus. I was put back on the vivelle patch a couple of days after surgery. This week I started on testosterone cream. I am a bit nervous about using the testosterone cream. I am not sure what to expect from this cream. Does it take time before this stuff starts working? How long?

Re: ?? about testosterone after hyst

Hi ibtallnca, I was lurking around the healthboards, (I am usally in the thyroid board), and saw your question.
I had a total hyst. in 2002 and am on the vivelle dot hrt. I have done the testosterone on and off the past few years. I found that it is very individual as to how much and how often you use it. And where you use it. It does help with arousal. It does help some with energy. You are not going to grow a beard or start talking in a deeper voice.
I found that using it too often on your private area too much, (things tended to swell a little) so you can alternate between there and the backs of your thighs. But as I said it is a very individual thing for everyone.
If your husband or significant other doesn't like sex very often then you might not want to use it more than 2x a week. If they do like it often then up the dosage. But don't be afaid of it. Sometimes after a hyst. a woman needs a little something to help her get back in the mood. Hope this helps. Kygirl
