Post Re: Need Advice on Pain Medication's for my Pop

Whoops Sorry Steve,I think I may have sent your message through again by mistake! But wanted to say that Pop did tell my Mom today his pain is still bad whenever he try's to walk or do anything, the only time he is Ok is when slkeeping or being very still in his recliner. He has been on antibotics now for over 3 week's an is running a slight fever, hard to tell what since the Percocet also has the acetaminophen in it.I wish the 9th would hurry an get here so he can get the bone scan done but I'm also afraid of what the result's may say.But not knowing what"s making him be in such pain is hard an the VA hospital here just don't get in a hurry.I'm afraid he is going to end up in the hospital before they do know anything just because thing's are getting worst instead of better.Again Thanks so much for the input an support.

Re: Need Advice on Pain Medication's for my Pop

Babycakes, I just want to tell you that I am sorry. It is hard to watch a loved one suffer and being that it is your Pop that bond between a girl and her Daddy makes it even more difficult. Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Need Advice on Pain Medication's for my Pop

Steve it was only about 2 weeks on 3 aday an then they cut back to 2 aday another 5 days.He is one who will try his best not to take medicine an that is why I know he is in severe pain.I don't know if I put in other post or not but they gave him the Endocet 5mg 3 aday. His insurance will only pay for generics. But he did say his mind is clear again now but the pain isn't letting up.I'm sure the meds are helping somewhat but my whole family including me are trying to play doctor an figure out what is going on.Also Friday the doc. said he had mild fever an is still running it.He is prone to getting urinary tract infections an it seems like he almost keeps one.But this pain is really severe in lower back an sometimes his arms an shoulders. And the cramps he is getting in his legs.I'm afraid he is going to cramp up walking an fall.He is also losing weight but they have had him on differant antibotics that make him sick an not want to eat.June 9th will be his bone scan an I pray nothing bad shows up but when some-one has had bladder cancer you can't help but think the worst but I'm trying to think positive since it did seem to start when he jumped up out of bed real fast that nite. They are going to do MRI also at some point. They said first thing was to deal with his pain but it's not happening fast enough for Pop or any of us.Well sorry I got carried away again giving life story.Check back later!

Re: Need Advice on Pain Medication's for my Pop

Babycakes, I just wanted to echo Steve's sentiments. I took care of both of my parents before they passed and I know how physically and emotionally taxing it can be, no matter how much you love them. I know it took a toll on me, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I hope all goes well with your Pop. I'll be sending some good thoughts your way on Friday. Take care and God Bless, CMP/MM
