Re: Anti-inflammatory meds

Amy2008 and stepbystep~ Thanks for sharing your experiences.

janewhite1 and Harry~ Thanks for the reminder that NSAIDs aren't without risks. I do take the Mobic with breakfast. janewhite, for GERD, I have already been taking 40 mg Prilosec daily. I see my PCP next week, and I'm going to ask her about increasing the dose. (At one point, she told me that I could take 40 mg twice a day, if needed.)

A friend's grandfather had been taking ibuprofen for arthritis and developed cirrhosis of the liver. He never drank alcohol, nor had he ever been infected with Hep C, so the cause was determined to be due to long-term use of NSAIDs. Scary stuff.

Hi, taape... it's been a long time! Thanks for the info. How ironic... A few years ago I had been given Toradol by injection for a spinal headache (following a lumbar puncture) and vomited almost nonstop.

I'm sorry you haven't been able to take anything on a daily basis for your pain. My daughter's future MIL recently sent me Australian eucalyptus oil in a carrier solution of jojoba oil and aloe that is massaged into the skin over painful joints and muscles. Eucalyptus oil, when applied topically, is supposed to reduce inflammation. It seems to help a bit, but it would be more effective if I used it more frequently and massaged it in for a longer period of time. If you're interested in checking it out, I can give you the product name.

Thanks again, everyone.

~Pat

Re: Anti-inflammatory meds

I have hemoragghic gastritis which simply means bleeding guts... My PCP was insistent that I try Mobic which I knew would absolutely EAT my stomach up so I am taking cytotec with it... too early to tell if its going to help but its supposed to.... I will keep you all informed.

Re: Anti-inflammatory meds

burpngirl, I hope you are able to tolerate Mobic. Are you taking any preventative GI drugs, too?

Good luck!
