rash from cement mix

hi! my bf works stucco business and gets horrible rashes form the cement mix. the hotter it is outside the worse the rash gets! we've tried just about everything oc and nothing seems to work. he's been scratching it raw and dumping alcohol on it....how he stands that i dont know! lol....any suggestions, home remedies, cream that can be bought online....anything...thanks in advance! please be kind.....

My first suggestion is that he cover exposed areas that come in contact with the cement.

Washing the rash thoroughly every evening with a mild soap or even using baby wipes with aloe vera and Vitamin E to cleanse, then hydrocortisone cream or Vaseline should help.

If the rash starts looking like it might be getting infected, try triple antibiotic cream.

If these things do not work, he should consult a dermatologist.

I would also try some Benadryl in case this is an allergic reaction. I would also try the other things mentioned by the above poster.

If all else fails I would definetly see your doctor or dermatologist.

thank you so much guys....the benedryl worked, he slept all night without scratching...lol... he did go to dr.s once for it and was prescribed a cream that cost $80.....no results....he does where gloves at work but you know how it is, it gets splashed here and there throughout the day. no home remedies anyone knows about????? i know if i even touch his work clothes my hands will itch for a whole day! thanks again guys!

You might have some luck if you do a web search on Contact Dermatitis. I know from my own searches on this topic that cement is a common irritant.

I have a form of it and I haven't found a great solution from OTC. My doctor prescribed a steroid cream for a recent rash I developed.

All of the other solutions suggested are certainly common things to try so one of them might work for your husband.
