Talk to your doctor about the possibility of IBS or food allergies, or even IBS *with* food allergies. I have that. I often get mucus at the end of my stools, especially when I am stressed about something.
Just to make sure everything is okay, they should either do a stool sample while you are there or send you home with a kit where you can collect three samples over three days to turn those back in. They will check those for blood (mine have always come out negative - hence the IBS diagnosis years ago) just to be sure everything is fine.
Something you can do for yourself is to keep a food and emotion diary. What you eat when, when you get upset, when the symptoms come on. You may be able to look back and find a link. I discovered MSG and fast food fried stuff was a trigger for me.
You might want to check into Maalox or Mylanta as a replacement for Pepto. I honestly did not know it had
aspirin in it, either! Yes, read the label.
