Anybody used Clonidine for WDs?

I am reducing my oxy usage. Dr. prescribed Clonidine. Does anybody have experience with this particular drug? Did it make you dizzy / light headed?
Thanks for your help!!

Re: Anybody used Clonidine for WDs?

Hello: My experience with clonidine was it helped alot with the hot and cold sweats and goose bumps. It made me really tired and yea a little dizzy and light headed but I could handle that because it really does help with the acute withdraw symtoms. Sounds like you and your doctor are working together and that is a great thing. If you are tapering and using the clonidine you shouldn't have any problems coming off of your oxy. You shouldn't have a hard time at all. Take care and good luck to you.

Good for you for doing this. I am glad your doctor is helping you thru this! Makes me feel a lot better about my upcoming appointment.

Hang in there.. Sorry to hear you are dizzy and tired. My thoughts are with you and hope you have a speedy recovery!

Re: Anybody used Clonidine for WDs?

My Psychiatrist gave me clonidine during a WD period. He gave me 3 days off to stay home and deal with it. The first time taking it, I crashed hard! Fell asleep for about 8 hours and woke up dizzy.... I didn't like the way I felt on it, but I also didn't have restless legs and all the other WD symptoms.

Good luck to you.

Re: Anybody used Clonidine for WDs?

Clonidine is a blood pressure med. It will lower your blood pressure thus making you feel dizzy etc... This is normal. Like the other posts say, it is great that your working together w/ your dr. Keep in there. I know that withdrawls are the easy part of this process (probably won't agree w/ me now) but staying clean is really the challenge.

Good luck to you.
