Re: 20 Years old, blood in stool every couple of months..

Hey Chris, I was about 20 and I had the same problems. I didnt want to admit it (heck I still dont) but my diet has TONS of room for improvement. When you dont get a lot of fiber (veges, grains, etc), your stools (poo) gets harder and can give you an internal hemmoroid or fissure. I know this because I was a total wimp and didnt want to talk to my Dr. about it, but I finally told my Mom and she told me she had the same thing when she was pregnant with me.

I made a dr's appt just to be safe. He did a colonoscopy on me, found a fissure or 2, I had to sit in a "sitz" or "fitz" bath, one or the other. Basically I had to take hot baths every day for a month or so, until the bleeding stopped. I have no idea why or how, but this was the advice from my Mother and my Dr. They wanted me to buy this weird looking thing you sit on but I never did, I just took the baths and that worked. Plus, dont wipe or "dig" hard when you wipe your bottom. Be gentle.

Im telling you, I was bleeding pretty good to every time I went to the bathroom. I could hear and watch it drip. It was scary to bleed that much. Ever since I did the baths, it has never came back and Im 28 now. Good Luck and get more fiber in your diet, would ya?

Chris, here's what you can do to help with that. Fiber One makes a bar that is quite good. eat a couple of those. My hubby suffers from internal fissures. So he eats Fiber One cereal mixed with Raisin Bran for breakfast every morning. This gives his the extra fiber that his diet needs. The problem is that when you add alot of fiber to your diet--it tends to add a lot of gas and you need to be aware of this before you are in public so you can be ready to either run for the hills or be able to hold the farts back! Oncd your system gets used to the extra fiber it settles down, but for the first few weeks it's pretty raunchy...LOL.... Apple, broccoli are also high in fiber.

If you poo is hard there is an OTC product you can get at Target, Costco, Walmart... Miralax. You stir it into juice or water. IT has no flavor or mouth feel it dissolves entirely. When you take this for three days you will no longer have hard poos, you will go regularily and they will be soft and you will no longer bleed. THERE. we have taken care of your trouble. But you do need to change your diet to help save your intestines. You are too young to be having this problem.

give this a try and see if it helps, "K?

Thank you so much. I'll make sure to watch my diet and get lots of fiber.. Atleast on weekdays when i'm working with my dad and I don't think he'll fire me for stinking up the place or for any reason at that. :P I'm so much more at ease now!! For a while there I thought I was on death row
