Bone Density Test

Ive been to the hospital for my check up, and my doctor had said to me that when im twenty(which is two years away) she wants me to go for a bone density test.

What would this be for?

I am getting a bone density test done b/c if you take steroids or cortisone over time one of the complications is osteoporosis. For me, they want to see what my bone density is now (at age 37) to see if it changes as time goes on. Are you on cortisone?

im on hydrocortisone fludricortisone and levothyroxine for under active thyroid, im 18 at the minute but my GP said i cant have it until i'm twenty one.
