Day4 clean-Yes the restless legs has been the worse!! And getting nooo sleep at night my God I cant wait till this is over

Re: Need help getting off morphine

I had to laugh a little, since I've been through it and I know the feeling and frustration of wanting it to end. I walked and walked and walked every night because my legs ached so bad and as soon as I laid down I would get the restless legs feeling and start kicking around. I couldn't sleep, so I walked around the house more.

The purpose of withdrawals are for you to remember them down the road and make a vow never to go through them again. Remember what you are going through now before you ever take another pill in the future. It is definitely something to help keep you honest.

I hope that they pass soon for you.

Thanx for the wise words Denon well......Its the end of day 8 with not one pain pill!!!! Im feeling a little better day by day. I still have a slight ache in my pelvic joint area of my legs but its nowhere near as bad as it was the first 1-5 days and I have a little more energy now but still not 100% I will stand up and streach sometimes and im like...uuuhhh but other that that my days are slowly getting brighter!...But damn I cant wait for these small aches in my upper leg to stop its just enough to annoy me but I get hella sleep now!...allmost too much LOL...Moving right along!

Re: Need help getting off morphine

Good for you!! You're past most of it now. It will still take a while to get over the little annoyances/reminders. I had the goosebumps last about 1-1/2 months after I was clean. I still get them more frequently than I should.

Your next hurdle will be the cravings that usually occur. They can happen at any time and can go from simply "thinking" about the drug to full blown, "I need it now!" Best thing to do when they occur is to think about your withdrawals and what you went through and how good you felt when they were over. Then get busy doing something to occupy your mind.

You're going great and you should be proud of what you accomplished.

Talking Re: Need help getting off morphine

Dear PainsofXavier.
I believe I have a bit of relief for you. Actually with your SC this remedy will help you the rest of your life. I have had restless leg for over 20 years now. After heart surgery 8 years ago I discovered that the vicodin I was prescribed reduced or eliminated my restless leg symptoms very well. Well, I became addicted like you and now I am in week # 5 of withdrawl. It's getting much better but it's still tough.

The relief I promised? Don't Poo-Poo this..............Hot/Warm Baths. I have the luxury of a bath tub fitted with a jacuzzi. But any bath will give much relief and change your attitude at least for a couple of hours. You'll feel like moving around some more and that keeps the RLS minimized. You can try Epsom salts or not. Last I heard, unless you get the water too hot there are no negative side effects from a warm bath. Caution, they can be addicting!

Also, lean against the wall and do knee squats, slowly.
cut out all caffeine and chocolate. Especially after noon.
You can talk to your Dr. about the new drugs for RLS such as Requip and myramax. They are not habit forming or narcotic.

I would also think that the bathing will help your hip aches caused by your SC. Go get a little blow up rubber pillow, shut the door, relax. Move your legs around at first and then relax.

Go try it now, this isn't silly or unproven. Go on, get into it. Let us know how you feel when you get out. In fact, the real test to make you a believer is: wait until your restless leg is at it's worst, then get in the bath. 10 minutes later it will be gone.

I'm assuming your a guy. if this insults your manly hood I'll tell you a little about me.
I am a disabled Viet Nam Vet. U.S.M.C., I corps(I corps was next door to North Viet Nam) Viet Nam 1968-69. I am 60 and had a 3 way bypass 8 years ago. I have been plauged by the after effects of heavy exposure to Agent Orange. I have many ailments, including PTSD (post Tramatic Stress disoder) from multiple combat engagements, some of which I'm compensated for by the V.A., I will soon be recieving even more compensation due to the fact the Agent Orange poisoning is winning. I have been married to the same wonderful woman for 39 years. I have 2 boys and 4 grandchildren. I was raised on a working cattle ranch (cowboy)and spent 34 years at UPS. So. I'm not a little wimp who loves his little bubble bath. I'm a guy who knows a good thing when he sees & feels it. A rubber duck &/or a submarine adds fun though.
Go get into the bath now!

Take care, Wannabehappy

I'm a man who needs his bath for relief! Body & mind get much relief.
