Hey Autumn,

My surgery was NOWHERE as invasive as yours, but I've had terrible muscle spasms as a result as well. They've had me on Flexeril and that seems to help some, but the trigger points and major charlie horse knots, really just take a lot of time. My PT has me icing them as much as I can stand to desensitize my face since the nerves are really hyper from the surgery as well....I'm weaning myself off of the Flexeril now...one every other day....it's tough because it does help more than you realize!

Hope this helped a little!

Hey Autumn,
My doctor perscribed Carisoprodol 350mg this is the generic for Soma. This muscle relaxer for the most part works. As you know I have been having a problem with my jaw locking up on me. This relaxer seems to calm my muscles down, sometimes it can loosen me up pretty good, but when it starts wearing down I do get a little tight but not as bad as I was. I stopped taking any medication because we are gonna start trying to extend are family. At the moment we have had some other physical barriers that have not let us try.

Thanks guys.

Webby you were right on target,I didn't get to see your post before I left. But Soma is exactly what he gave me. He said to take 2 350mg tabs daily for a bit until things settle down. He said I can take up to 4 but to try and stick with the 2.

I hope this works. I can't sleep at night because I have to band my mouth closed and everything tightens up. I gotta get some sleep before my husband leaves me . I'm so cranky, I can barely stand myself, LOL.

Thanks again to everyone for all your advice. Keep your fingers crossed that they work for me (or for my husband and childrens sake, LOL).

Autumn

I hope you get some relief and rest this evening/night, Autumn.

Until tomorrow (if you're up to it, let us know how things went),

Hi all - for those of you on Soma, do you get any side effects? Specifically, if I would take it at bedtime, would I feel lethargic the next day?

I have tried Skelaxin, valium, zanaflex and flexeril, but none helped, and some made me feel like I was a zombie the next day (even after coffee!)

thanks again, and take care....
