Post Birth Control Pills and Weight Gain

Hi,

My Hubby and I have decided to remain w/out children. And I was wondering if any of you ladies out there could give me some advice on Birth control pills.

Your experiences w/ weight gain, side affects of any kind.

I am thinking of the pill but am even considering some other measures only because I have had some pretty bad experiences w/ the pill. but I also know there are new things on the market that dont make you gain weight and have all the typical side affects.

I just wanted some input.

Hi. I have been on Triphasil for most of the 5 years I've been on birth control (I was on Ortho Tricyclen for a year and was on Trivora (generic of Triphasil) for a few months because my doctor didn't have the Triphasil samples in her office at my appointment one year so she gave me Trivora samples instead). I didn't have weight gain on any of them, the only real side effects I had was some nausea on Trivora. I know each person is different and what works for one may not work for all, but anyway, hope it helps and hope you get birth control that works for you with minimal side effects, if any.

I think you should consult your doctor about the possibilities. Besides other types of birth control, of course, there are so many types of pills. The types of hormones, the dosage, and the periodicity of the doses. I don't know when you last took the pill, but through the years the dosage has decreased significantly, which should help with side effects. Also, I've heard that taking a tri-phasic type pill will reduce the amount of side effects because you are not on such a high dosage all throughout your cycle. However, I have a friend who had the opposite problem. She started with the tri-phasic and had problems. When she switched to a mono-phasic, she had much less side effects. Every person is definitely different, the best way is to go through this with a doctor and keep switching types until you find the one you like, hopefully.
