Post I bleed to death on my period

does anybody else have this problem,, my second and third day of my period I cannot leave the house I soak thru a super plus tampon and and *overnighter* within an hour, this just started happening about 3 yrs ago after my third child and now with my 4th who's 8 mths old its happening again, i had a csec with my last one and barely bled at all since they wiped down my uterus and cleaned me up real good but this really sucks , my ob put me on the mini pill even thou my tubes are tied and after a week of spotting and headaches i stopped taking them and instantly started my period again
whoever said there is only about 2 tbs of blood in your menstral cycle did not go by my flow!!
anyway just wondering if there was anything else I could do short of a hysterectomy,
yoga

You may want to have your thyroid levels checked. Heavy bleeding can be a symptom. It is not uncommon after a pregnancy to start developing a thyroid problems. Check the thyroid board to see if you have any other symptoms. Just a suggestion.

Hi.. I think you should get your Thyroid also.
I was getting Heavy periods and long cycle for months. Also I would spot off and on. Then I stopped getting my Period. So I went to my Obgyn and he ran some tests. I have an over active thyroid. I'm seeing a specialist for that now.
Now I know why I'm eating alot and sleeping alot and not getting my period.

i used to have the same kind of periods you did. it looked like my liver was laying in the toilet i clotted so bad. i have a fibroid tumor on my uterus and that was the cause of it. so i had the choice of a hysterectomy or the pill even though like you my tubes are tied.so i chose the pill and am now on levlite for 2 yrs now with absolutely no problems from the pill and no more periods at all. i go from one pack of pills to the next without skipping a week and have no period. you might want to talk to your dr about it. i am no longer anemic either.

I had similar problems with very heavy periods, no other underlying causes. My doctor suggested an endometrial ablation (doctor inserts balloon in uterus and fills with hot water, kills the endometrial tissue but leaves everything else intact). I understand about 85% of patients have marked improvement, some have no more periods at all. Since it can cause sterility, it's not appropriate if you want more kids. It's an easy procedure with little or no recovery time (back to the kids the next day) and is a whole lot better than staying on the pill or hysterectomy.
