Question Low body temperature problems

For the past few months I have been experiencing low body temperature fluctuations. My normal temp is around 98.6 however there are time that it drops as low as 95.6, with many reading sin the 96.6-97.6 range. When it drops below 97.5 I start to feel bad. The feeling is hard to describe. I have had many blood tests. I have had thyroid tests. The Dr. has no explanation for this. In fact he accused me of having a broken thermometer. One day in his office it was down to 95.6 and he said his themometer batteries must be going. I compared the reading with my own theremometer which I carry with me everywhere I go. It was the same. So I proved that I was not imagining this.
___
He said "Don't worry about it, it only matters if it gets too high." Typical Kaiser HMO bad dr.
____
He said, there were no other tests to run. I would just have to execize more and lead a less stressful life, and live with it.
___
This is not easy to do, as I cannot predict when it will suddenly drop 2 or more degrees and I will start feeling awful.
___
I am diabetic Type 2, high blood pressure meds, and high cholestrol meds, and 320 lbs. With haital hernia, GERD, and on PPI drug Protonix.
____
ANy ideas at all on what to do?

When you use alcohol, anti-depressants, or sedatives, the body may have difficulty regulating temperature.

Certain neurological and endocrine disorders may also affect temperature regulation.

Since you're being treated for a variety of health issue and taking many different medications to treat these issues, it's harder to tell just exactly which issue is causing this problem.

The low body temp isn't an individual issue. It's likely caused by, either one of your medications or one of your other health issues or a combination of these things.

If you'd lose weight, these other weight related issues would probably go away as would the temp issue. Good luck to you.

farscape66:
Read on the Thyroid Board.
It is likely that what the doc considers normal is nothing more than a lab result. It is a very common medical mistake.

Also, make sure to drink PLENTY of water. Without it, the body cannot regulate the temperature.

I agree, you also need exercise and to have a normal weight.

Get copies of your thyroid lab results, it is very important. Then post them and the lab values for normal on the thyroid board. You may be surprised.

Question

I still suspect thyroid. So I recently purchased Raw Bovine Thyroid extract and Raw Adrenal Extract as supplements, plus a product called ThyroCare wrom the Wilson's Thyroid website.
___
Since my Dr. refuses to explore this approach I am forced to self medicate and see if it helps. We shall see.
