I've never heard of it being banned at all! I took it 2 years ago because it helps with Fibromyalgia and sleep problems when taken in low doses. I didn't have any problems with it. But Hubby and I decided to try to make a baby so I stopped taking it. It worked well while I was on it!

My wife has been taking it for several years as a partial treatment for fibromyalgia. It helps you get to the 4th stage of sleep where the body recovers. It has not been banned and there is a generic available although I don't remember the name.

I have trouble reading things on the screen so you may feel your issue is settled, but I thought I would write just in case. Amytriptiline (Elavil) is so safe its pathetic. Is is one of the older tricyclic antidepressants, and has been prescriped for over 15 years. It is also used for pain relief for fibromyalgia. Next time go to a drug page to get drug info

its the best thing i have ever taken Saying that it can be dangerous, if you over dose on it, it shuts down your resperatry system and causes fitting, but if you stick to your correct dose you should be fine. The only effect i had was dry mouth and racing heart and the dryness has settled down now
