Hi! I have an acid reflux diseace and I think that is what you might have aswell. Because of it acids can enter your esophagus (dunno if I got that right) and "eat" the tissue there causing a kind of scar. People who develop a scar like that are in bigger risk of getting cancer but it doesn't mean that everyone of them will develop one. My case isn't too bad and that is why I will not get an operation done. I'm eating medicine. My doctor told me the best way to keep the acids away from your esophagus is to lift up the end of your bed so that your upper body is higher that the rest of your body. What you can do is to put a couple of pillows on top of each other. But if you like to sleep on your stomach like I do you should lift the other end of your bed by putting some wooden blocks there.
