Hi Jim
I have suffered from geographic tongue in the past usually when I was taking penicillin, the doctor now prescribes an anti-fungal to go along with the penicillin and I haven't suffered from it since! You are right about the Vitamin B too, I have addisons anemia (unable to absorb B12) and that makes you more susceptible too.
Seems like you have quite a few worries in the health department, it would be nice if you could at least clear this one up quickly.
All the best
Jules

Thank you for the reply!

Very helpful indeed. Yes, I was in fine health before I started on this antibiotic binge so I figured this was the cause. Now that you've shared your own story with me, I feel confident that it was indeed the antibiotics. I even read a story about some guy who took Cipro and got geographic tongue. Let me ask you this though: Once the taste buds slough off and your tongue gets real smooth, how long does it take for them to grow back again or don't they grow back at all?.

Thank's again!

Hi jim:
The denuded areas will return to normal.

Hope you can stay away from all those meds and finally get comfortable!
I know how anxious you've been, but regarding your oral problems, nothing is going on here that is life-threatening, nor is it permanent.

best,
zuzu xxxxx

I'm 48 yrs old and have had a geographic tongue for as long as I can remember.
It's kept me away from alot of acidic fruits (grapefruit, pineapple, etc.) but in general it really hasn't affected my life or who I am.
Count me as a "no biggie" on the issue!

Interesting...

I just spoke to my mom and she told me that she also had geographic tongue. I explained to her that I developed it shortly after I'd taken about 20 days worth of Penicilin VK and she said "that's funny, I just took a course of Penicilin myself before this thing showed up" and I'm like...Whaaaa???.

Ok, now this makes like a 1/2 dozen people so far that have told me similar things and I think maybe there's a link between Penicilin antibiotics and geographic tongue (perhaps other oral disorders too).

Just my thoughts...ramblings...
