Question metal mouth/taste

Just wondering if anyone has had a metal taste/breath and if it might be a side effect from a drug?

My daughter gets it from time to time, but it is unrelated to drugs as she takes nothing but an occasional aspirin.

Changes like this can be side-effects of meds as well as the build-up of certain nutrients in your body, usually minerals from foods. If this happens only occasionally, it's usually not a problem. However, if it's a regular occurrence, then you may want to talk to your doctor because your body is telling you something is out of balance.

My roomie is on several medications. She recently started taking Wellbutrin and Toprol. She didn't have this smell/taste until she started taking these. Her doctor didn't see to be concerned about it. But she is getting to the point of real frustration because she can't seem to get rid of it.

Here are links for both meds:

Wellbutrin:

Toprol: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/uspdi/202087.html

I didn't read the second article thoroughly, so I'm not clear on the drug/drug interactions. Food/drug interactions should also be looked into. Try the drugs.com site for this, they have the best interaction guide. Another way to check for possible interactions is to determine which organ uses the med. For example, any med that's metabolized by the liver means that grapefruit should be avoided and that other liver-metabolized compounds can accumulated at an increased rate.

The Wellbutrin appears to be an extended-release med. My personal experience with time-release meds has been that they're usually not the right dosage for my body. My body just doesn't clear/metabolize the meds according to the manufacturer's schedule. [Most med dosages are calculated for an average weight of 150-170 lbs.]
