Myocarditis

Does anyone have this, went to the cardiologist gave me a ultrasound of chest and some nuclear test were they inject you with some clear liquid to see how the heart is pumping and said I had myocarditis. He put me on monopril. He said its was most likely caused by a virus but I haven't been sick. I was having chest pain with arm, neck, pain and a bit shortness of breath.I was told that their have been cases of sudden death caesed by this. I also have TMJ and suffer from anxiety.

You probably have had an infection with a coxsackie virus. Heart infections are not common, but when they do happen, they're usually due to this virus. The monipril is to help lower your blood pressure to lessen the strain on your heart. The other symptoms you were having like arm and neck pain and SOB are related to the fact that your heart muscle, due to the infection wasn't getting the oxygen it need to pump properly.

Question

Thank you for responding I appreciate it. Can this myocarditis be life threatning in any way. Its like im obsessing over every little pain or spasm in my body. I've read in the internet about sudden death but not much info on the myocarditis itself. Nobody seems to be to worry about this but im in constant pain, all I keep hearing is its not to common but are their any long term effects. I appreciate any feedback.

Myocarditis can be life-threatening, yes, but I'm guessing that you're younger...is that true? Young bodies are easily able to recover in most cases.
