Yeah. I don't use the lenses anymore cause of the way that they felt. It's possible that they hurt my eyes, but wouldn't that have healed up by now? I also remember one of the rewetting drops I used made my eyes really red, but I kept using it for the week i tried contacts.

Sometimes I think there is something i'm allergic too in the drops that i currently use. But sometimes i force myself to go without drops for a few days, and nothing clears up. So i'm in the blue. And the computer thing is killer, but even on the days when i'm not at a computer, it can get pretty bad. It seems to go from bad to worse no matter what i'm doing. I don't get it. Like i can lay around all day and go mall shopping and stuff, and they will be terrible.

Yes you would think they would have cleared up by now...but we hear on the news all the time about people having bad reactions to some med or whatever...and they don't get better... And yes you COULD be allergic to any number of things in the eye drops or even the meds. If you read the lists of ingrentance on these things maybe you could find something similar. My son used to be allergic to dyes in foods. Well try figuring that out! lol. He could drink some healthy juice...have some ceral or some chips and over the counter meds and so on and have a reaction to all of these things. They seem all very unrelated...until you read the ingretance and see all of these things have something like red dye 40 in them...INLCUDING the vitamines...including over the counter meds...EVEN including rx meds! Especially that stupid bubble gum flavored antiboic made for little kids...TONS of red dye 40 in it. Even PILLS have dyes in them. grrrrrr. They even put red and blue dyes in grape juice...as if it NEEDS to be more purple???

Stuff for kids is even worse...oh and they even put dyes in pet food? Like the dog or cat can see the colors and think....gee that looks tastiy with all the orange and blues and browns...I think I will eat it. WEll yea try cleaning those DYES up off the carpet after they throw up that lovely colorful dinner...grrrrrr.

One day I am going to email all these companies that put dyes in their whatever and gripe them out! lol.

You could have had a very serious allergic recation to the lenses...esepcially if they made you feel funny too...or the drops that went with them and it could just take awhile for it to get out of your system. I bet if you searched it out you can find their side affect list and see how many people have had reactions like yours. Then I would contact them and ask how it should be treated.

I've had eye allergy problems for 20+ years.

I've had appointments with optomitrists, and eye care physicians over the years. No luck. They all acted like they had never even heard of eye allergies - and that it was my imagination!

The OTC "allergy" eye drops only helped once in a while. Artificial tears are a joke.

Most all OTC allergy meds (1st generation) just make me sleepy - and no relief from allergies.

I finally got tired of the itching/burning/stringy mucus, and went to an allergist about a year ago. I tested "moderately allergic to everything", and started with allergy shots and varoius 2nd generation antihistamines.

Almost a year later now, I continue to have eye allergy problems, but they are less often and less severe. Patanol, Acular, and Vasocidin eye drops help get me through the bad days.

I've even purchased a microscope, pollen/mold sampler, pollen/mold identificatin guides ... and have still yet to exactly figure out what triggers eye reactions. (BTW, most all pollen and mold forcasts are not even close). I think I'm getting a little closer to figuring some of it out, but there is still something that I'm missing. (Somehow I think the weather is a factor - but I've yet to find a good explination beyond transport of pollen/mold).

One thing I do know: The medical "establishment" is in it only for the money, not the science.

Unfortunately, that does not help us allergy sufferers much.

Dry-irritated eyes

My eyes get that way. Once sneezed (allergy) so strongly, had a tiny vessel in the whites of eyes bleed. For that the eye doc gave a drop sample to instill in that eye (they were basically for allergy). I have dry eye condition so understand the frustration. My relief of choice is using different preservative free lubricating drops available over the counter until a comfort zone is reached. Some are thicker, some are thinner. When allergy season kicks up, it makes dry eye worse, so have to use more drops, more often for relief. Hope the shots work out for you. Take Care, G

Irritated eyes

Have you had corneal topography done? When I initially put the drops in it seemed to make it feel worse before better, like very gritty-like a piece of sand was scratching the eye, burning worse. After a few minutes the drops were tolerated.
