Frianne, count your blessings you got a regular hemorrhoidectomy and not staples. Those staples are left inside permanently, and whose to know what effect they will have on your body 10 to 20 years from now. I have read people getting massive infections from those staples 5-6 months after that supposedly dream painless surgery. Personally, I think your doctor did you a favor. I know what you are going through is terrible, but at least you will be cured down the road, and not left with some metallic objects lodged inside your rectal vault for life!

Yes, I have heard of people with hemorrhoidectomies incorporating very warm bathtub soaks, and then having to rush to the hospital with life-threatening bleeding caused by those soaks. Unless you want to bleed to death, keep your butt out of water warmer than tap water. I am not kidding -- read SteveFromEngland's post, a fellow in his 20s, just last month who was having severe hemorrhaging from his hemorrhoidectomy; had to be admitted into the hospital. You want to know what ended up being his problem? Warm sitz baths in the tub. Heat, warmth draws blood, congests the area with blood, and that is the last thing you want to do with open surgical wounds under pressure as in your rectum.

Let me see...are you looking to rupture a stitch? Because that is what you are going to accomplish if you continue to insert objects in your butt. The doctor who gave your suppositories to insert AFTER a hemorrhoidectomy should be hung. Suppositories treating hemorrhoids are standard fare; but no one should insert anything into an area that is raw and sutured and unhealed. I truly believe you are causing yourself pain and bleeding with those suppositories. Stop that right away, it is extremely dangerous. Nothing should go into your butt hole now. A small glob of vaseline before you go is okay, but you need to gently dab it away after you go, because vaseline should not be kept for long on open surgical wounds.

This is what you have to realize: you have open surgical wounds in a very tough place to heal. You have to gingerly care for that area, and expect it to take 3 months for those inside wounds to completely close. Ding! I'm out of time now, but please stop those suppositories.

anitraw,

It does sound like you just need time to heal since your pain and bleeding are coming from up in. Like I said I did have bleeding, pain and burning still at 2 months. It has been 4 months though and I guess now I'm dealing with this fissure. I know what you mean about not wanting any more surgery!!! So I will try to heal this on my own. My surgeon was so wrong about the healing time of the hemm. surgery. WheN I went for my first check-up, his receptionist acually said "you'll be back to normal in 2 weeks " that was in September. I had know idea what I was getting into when I went to have just 1 hemm removed. I have skin tags also that I did'nt have before I had this done...but they will stay there!!! At first, they looked like 2 swellings on either side of my cut, but it tooks about 3 months for the swelling to go down, now they are like skin tags, do you have that? thanks for the info...speedy recovery to you!!!

wjpjr,

I too had bleeding just at bm and on the tp at 2 1/2 months. The bleeding just stopped at 3 months. I continued my sitz bath(in warm water)to help with the burning but that has since gone away. The diltiazem i'm using is exactly what you said. It is used to treat heart problems. I am using it in a cream form though, to relax the muscle in my rectum to allow the fissure to heal.So i'm praying this helps!!! No more surgery for me. Thanx for your reply, let me know if I can help!! Praying for a quic recovery for all of you!

[QUOTE=Tammynoska]Anitraw, I just skimmed over your questions, and this is just a quick response as I'm burning the midnight oil again, but I advice you to have a surgeon look inside of you that will do an in-office scope, like Walt had, and I had. That other doctor who said he wants to look inside you, probably is a good choice for you. You should make an appointment next week with him to look inside you in his office. And I mean like this Monday-Friday, make a rush appointment with this 2nd doctor to examine you inside, in his office.

Tammy- In my doctor defense I think he wants to do it in the OR because I am so touchy. I mean I don't even let him look at me in his office, It hurts to much for him to look at it he spreads my butt apart and that is something I don't need. So the thought of him putting something up there scares the s**T out of me. So if you think I should go ahead with this whole looking inside thing then I will have to do it with anthisia because my pain tolerance is not that good. My surgeon told me that the only thing he would do it either put a stitch in or cauterise some spots that are raw. He does not think that there is anything else wrong other then those two things. Are you sure that I shouldn't give it some more time and try the whole adding the colace and see how thing go? The procedure is set up for Monday at 12:00 and he said it would take about 45min and he said that I would feel like the rectum was stretched and that is the only pain I should feel. But even that scares me I mean hello it hurts just thinking about it. He said that it was just like going to the OBGYN but only in that spot.

On the blood thing, I am not loosing 1/2 cup of blood so maybe I didn't lose a stitch maybe the pushing in the beginging is cracking some skin and it has not yet had time to heal. I don't know what do to. I will do what you think I should do.
