Unhappy

Sandigoros,
I know what it feels like to be you right now http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/t_down.gif
I have been suffering from dizziness for a lot of years now http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/dizzy.gif I hate it The first time I got dizzy the doctor said it was an inner ear virusand I would probably never get again. Well, guess what that was 12 years ago and I am still getting dizzy and lightheaded I have been to 2 ENTs, had 2 MRIs 3 CT scans, neurologist, cardologist and a specialist at Hershey Medical Center. The doctors all did their best to make me dizzy and they couldn't. You know why? Because the spells I get are actually migraines, aggraviated by allergies and perimenopause and the weather! I had a bad spell about a month ago and missed almost 2 weeks of work. I was doing alright until yesterday when I had a little taste of the dizzys again. So I am kind of down right now . I cried yesterday for about an hour and again today at lunch. I am feeling alright today but am considering trying the Chlorotrimeton. None of the allergy meds I have taken have worked. I do take childrens benedryl and seems to help sometimes. I take that because it doesn't make me sleepy.
Anyway I do know exactly what you mean about the dizzys and feeling off balance. It does get to me.
I guess we just have to hang in there and keep hoping and praying. Although sometimes I just want to give up.
Thanks for listening
In case you haven't noticed I just love these little smiles
Take care,
Deb

I forgot to mention that I tried Meclizine several times and it did not work for me. In fact I told my doctor that I thought it make me feel worse.

Cool

Hi,

You might as well try the Chlorotrimeton. It is safe, over the counter. It may make you sleepy at first, but that diminishes over time. It has helped at least a dozen people on this site over the last couple of years.

It was a lifesaver for me. I was lightheaded for 2 years, before I discovered that it worked for me. I have been on it for 3 years now. I am pretty much symptom free.

Hi Deb, is this where the crying comes from because I am not one to cry.....since Sunday, I have been feeling alittle depressed and talk about crying..... I have already missed 2 days of work, I am kind of scared driving because I have been dizzy. how long did you take Meclizine? I noticed very, very, very little difference. Can you tell me about Chlorotrimeton, some people said it helped them. I also been thru CT scans, MRI, you name it.....jeez, talk about a guinea pig for me. I can't take a lot of meds because my body is hypersensitive to meds.....Deb, I understand your frustration because I know what you are going thru. Are you going thru perimenopause? The ENT said it was vertigo but he was such a jerk-I actually reported him because of the treatment he gave me. I am calling my doctor right now...lol.

Question

Hi,

I've been reading some messages here and I too suffer from dizziness in which my dr. and ENT blamed on sinus problems and nasal allergies. They effect my Eustachian Tube, hence the dizziness, and popping an cracking of ears.

My problem is this, I suffer from an anxiety disorder which I'm actually starting to think stems from my dizziness. Excessive worry about the dizziness controls my life. On top of that, I have a phobia about meds...the side effects of them.

I was prescribed Flonase/Flixonase, but am afraid to try it. Advil is the only thing I can think without worrying. I also suffer from migraines and Advil works well for me.

My questions are these,

1. What are your dizzy spells like? Descriptive please, as I just can't seem to describe mine properly.

2. Anyone else try Flonase? Side effects? Effective for the dizziness?

3. Can nasal allergies and sinus problems cause dizziness??? I know the throat, ears and nose are connected, but it just seems strange that your ears could cause so many problems when it's a nasal allergy or sinus problem.

4. How do you deal with the dizziness? I'm almost agoraphobic because I have fear of becoming dizzy in public.

5. Does anyone know if my fear of dizziness could actually just make me more dizzy..because I worry about it? Self-induced, like a form of hypochondria or psychosomatic?

Thank you so much in advance,

Andrea
