Dawn,

i hope this helps -- it can't hurt. anyone who has taken antibiotics for an entire year runs a serious risk of becoming infected with massive amounts of yeast overgrowth. sugar is enemy #1. if i were you i would get to my doctor and demand a script for diflucan at least 100mg tablets 1/day for an entire month. you should also take it in conjunction with POWDERED nystantin. 1/4 tspn 2x's/day.

you need to COMPLETELY eliminate all forms of sugar from your diet. only consume small amounts of unprocessed carbs for the first few months. NO FRUIT.

most people are so ADDICTED to SUGAR that this is impossible to do. i believe that it is easier for an alcoholic to get off booze than for the average person to get off sugar (just my opinion).

you need to start consuming a daily large portion of a DARK green leafy vegetable. forget the lettuce and that includes romaine ( that can be added much later).

flax and mercury free fish oil will help. PROBIOTICS might be the most important part of your recovery. start out with acidophilus. be careful some probiotics will make some people worse an ex. would be Bifidus. Acidophilus should be well tolerated -- check the expiration date on it.

good luck.....i had almost identical problems to what you just described.... i'm much better but there is still room for much improvement. there are dozens of other things you can do....keep doing research.

a typical yeast cell will kick out a minimum of 80 different types of noxious compounds including deadly acetylaldehyde. this will wreak havoc upon anyone's immune system. it takes approx. 1 million friendly bacteria to contain just a single yeast cell.
therefore don't expect the probiotics to work overnight. in my humble opinion (which may or may not be correct), it could take months to correct the condition. (if indeed this is even the problem!)

in my case, i was subjected to a toxic mold at my former residence for 5 years before my health completely collapsed. the probiotics helped only marginally. what helped the most with my allergies was making my own yogurt from GOAT milk. it is time consuming but it is worth it. you can get a 1 qt yogurt maker on the internet for $19.00 -- it works nice (Salton).

M/R:
I did read up on all that "the yeast connection" etc. and I did have a test. It came in low, but slightly showing a problem with yeast. I told my doc (who originally ordered the test) and he said to take the priobiotics and olive leaf extract. My stomach couldn't tolerate either one. I ended up throwing up both. I tried doing one first = then adding the other slowly. No way. Still couldn't handle it. Then my doc said he wouldn't prescribe Diflucin because my level wasn't high enough. Then another doc (a specialist in allergies) said - oh everybody has that in their body. She told me to eat yogurt with live cultures 3/4 times a week and stay away from sugar. Now another doc wants to do this desentization - how can you fix something that is physically wrong by behavior modification? I have cut way back on sugars and wheat, etc. The other thing is the storebought yogurts have so many preservatives. Do you have a recipe for homemade goat yogurt? I'll have to research on the yogurt machine. TX for your input. Dawn2

those tests are meaningless. they do not pickup on reactions that are of the intracellular, kinin mediated type. to put it frankly most doctors don't have a CLUE.

it is extremely frustrating for a person in your position. save your money on allergy proofing your house. spend it on more effective treatments.

i believe your intuition lets you know that the antibiotics caused some serious problems. when i started on the diflucan there was a lot of vomiting and diarhea. it wasn't pleasant but i stuck with it. it was 2 weeks of pure hell. it finally ended about 1 week ago.

in your opinion why is the probiotic causing nausea? does it contain dairy? what brand are you using?

you need to learn all you can about the individual amino acids. some like cysteine are truly remarkable and very likely will dramatically improve your allergy threshold. a doctor will never tell you this information. but most important you have to try and get some homemade yogurt into your system. i like GOAT milk because it is less allergenic -- it has only minute amounts of casein. the acidophilus from the fresh culture should also give your body a huge boost in immunity.

i remember when i could not even step outside the house because the smell of perfume made me sick. God, that was horrible.

once again do some research into cysteine -- one doctor stated that every single person who suffers from chronic illness should supplement this amino acid. it helped me. however, it is somewhat expensive. i pay $15.50 for 60 500mg capsules. (but i keep buying it)

as far as making yogurt goes...it is a lot of trial and error.

few pointers:
practice with cow's milk (it is much cheaper than goat milk) (i pay $3.40 for a packet that gives me 1 qt of goat yogurt)
i buy trinity brand acidophilus
to get a starter culture going....it is ALWAYS best to make a very small batch in the beginning (a small baby food jar works best -- the 6 oz jar)
never skimp on the number of acidophilus capsules that you use for the starter batch (i use between 5 & 8)
after 6 or 7 hours examine the starter batch it must have perfect consistancy otherwise it is bad -- throw it out
temperature should be maintained around 110 to 114 F
i save time by not boiling the milk..... this is risky you will probably want to sterilize the milk before adding the culture
if you boil it make certain you do not let it get to hot (above 170 deg ?????? ) if you do - then - for some reason the proteins coagulate and the culture will not take.
never eat yogurt if it is lumpy
i will always create a brand new starter batch every 6 days.

p.s. i hardly even make it any longer because i became allergic to it after just 4 months. so now i just dissolve the capsules in some 112 deg water and hydrate them for a few hours --- that seems to work just fine for me
