Post Coughing for months? call your water company

My kids are hyper sensitive to drinking of Chlorinated tap water.
It gives them coughs that develop into severe coughs. The doctors, said our 3 year old was developing asthma and that our 6 year old had just a sympathy cough. What a joke. That was 9 years ago and our younger child has never developed asthma. It was all just the chlorine tap water they were drinking.
Since this originally happened the kids have accidentally gotten new sources of chlorinated tap water a couple of times and started coughing again and we would quickly figure it out and stop the new source and the coughing would stop immediatly.( new sources were the school, friends home etc.)
I looked it up in Medical books and found research on how chlorine effects humans. These symptoms matched what my kids were experiencing. Why did the doctors not know. It took me ten months to figure it out. Our 3 year old coughed so much it took her hours to get to sleep even with the help of many cough medicines. She had tons of trips to her pediatricians and at times she would need asthma meds and antibiotics.
They've been well for years. If you know anyone with a cough that never goes away and has to take tons of asthma meds or what ever, maybe all they need to do is stop the source of chlorinated tap water.
For my kids no chlorine tap water in their drinks etc. = no coughing problems.

Thank you so much for posting about the chlorine. I am going to investigate that for myself. I have had an ongoing hard cough for almost 2 years now. Nobody can tell me what is causing it. An allergist told me I have asthma. A breathing test at the hospital proved him wrong. I was sent to a pulmonologist and he is baffled. He has tried every asthma/allergy medicine on the market. Nothing works. Cough medicine does not work either. Smells seem to really trigger my cough, but it is something that goes beyond that. My chest x-rays are completely clear as well. I need relief! I hope your information leads to the relief I need. Thanks!

A blood pressure med called Lotensin also causes coughs. My pharmsist and doctor informed me of it before I started taking it and sure enough it did. The cough lasted a few months and would return occasionally in very small amounts.

My daughters cough was much worse. She also had to have antibiotics many times to clear her lungs as we struggled to figure out what was causing their problem for that full miserable ten months back in 1993. My sons cough was less but as he got older if he tapped into a new source of chlorine (accidently), and had a cold he was in bad shape.
I hope this information I've posted might help others. We got no help and suffered and had to figure it out on our own. I's a miracle that I figured it out and thank God my children never used chlorine water in formula or juice etc as infants. If they had they probably would not have made it.
(Chlorine came to our water supply when they were 3 and 6 years old. Call your water co.)

I really really worry and hope parents are not putting tap water (with chlorine) into their newborns formulas or putting it into their baby bottles etc. Very sick babies could be happening everywhere and no one knows why and its just because of the chlorine.
Good luck to all.
