Re: 3 Year old w/influenza A...in/out hospital!! Help!!

Beth, I am so sorry that you are going through this and more sorry for your little one! How horrible that had to have been watching them do that to him. It musta ripped your heart out! All I can tell you at this point is I'll be praying for you and your whole family. God bless that baby and heal him quickly so no more invasive procedures has to be done. Give Beth the strength to get through this and keep her wits about her. If surgery is needed, I pray that it is over quickly and with as little pain as possible for him. Guide the doctors hands and his mind as he works on him. Heal those ears, Lord, in Your Name I pray, AMEN!

I hope this doesn't offend anyone on this board.

Nicole

Re: 3 Year old w/influenza A...in/out hospital!! Help!!

Beth, my son was about 2 1/2 when he got tubes in his ears. I see that your son got them at 9 months. Getting them again would be helpful. The day of my son's surgery, his ears were so infected it took them almost three times as long to suction out the puss. The doctor said his eardrum was ready to rupture. Can't imagine how much pain these little guys go through. The tubes are a blessing. The other surgeries your son has coming up should definitely help his health in the future!

Nicole, isn't it sad that we have to worry about offending someone by saying something so right?!? I mean look at the gruesome, sick, horror stories that people watch on tv and at the movies. Those are the people that should apologize. We have basic cable and were flicking between stations and my son saw something so scary and gruesome that he started crying and he's 12! I'd say the devil is winning if we can't proclaim our faith aloud and in school. There is no reason why we shouldn't all be able to express ourselves in the manner of the faith or religion we believe in. That's what makes this country so great - Diversity! Multiculturalism! We should celebrate our differences not try to hide them! Okay, I'll get off my soapbox...for now. AMEN!

Re: 3 Year old w/influenza A...in/out hospital!! Help!!

Hey Girls...

THanks for your thoughts and prayers. Am nervous about the surgeries but wound up at the ent today (three days early) as when Mason went for his final shot of the Rocephin (spelling?), the docs said his ears werrent any better and the one eardrum was bulging pretty bad. Scared the crap out of me and said I needed to get to the ent "TODAY". So....an hour drive later (with my 10 yr old who is home from school for Christmas break in tow) and Daddy leaving work to meet us there....we found out....a big fat nothing! Nothing can be done I guess as far as surgeries if the infection is too bad. They dont want complications. He needs, tonsils, adnoids and tubes replaced so they want to make sure he is well first. After hospital iv Rocephin, augmentin, shots for four days of Rocephin...he is now back on amoxicillian as of tomorrow. The ent thinks maybe switching things up will shake things loose on this one. Yeah....right!! Amoxicllian is a low dose antibiotic so I sure hope he knows what he is doing. I am just so darn sick and tired of this poor little guy being sick and tired!!! Surgeries are tentantively scheduled for near end of January and as far as I am concerned although I am nervous....the sooner the better. I am just not sure what they will do if the amox. doesnt work either??? Can they just keep putting him on all this stuff that doesnt work and NOT doing surgery?? Numbing drops only go so far ya know!!!

WIll keep you all informed as I become informed...I am a walking robot Mom now...and am hoping for relief for us all soon. This is my only free time and I should be sleeping but am wired to the hilt.

Hope everyone else's family is doing well,
Beth
