Re: Brain Fog?

DucatiPro,

do you feel lightheaded or dizzy? What medications are you currently taking?

I have never passed out, but I have certainly felt weak and groggy. Did you tell the ENT you passed out, and heard a ringing in your ear? It sounds to me like a viral inner-ear infection, perhaps combined with allergies.

Try irrigating, either using the methods posted here, or getting yourself an irrigation machine (costs about $150). Also, get some antihistamine. I'm taking Zyrtec, and so far I have noticed an improvement (although I'm still a bit lightheaded).

Re: Brain Fog?

Chiggins, thanks for the feedback.

I actually did tell my ENT about the fact that I passed out.

But since I saw a Neurologist who said that I may have had a febrile seizure, the ENT said that what I was experiencing was due to my "Brian Disorder". I asked him if it was possible if I had something going on in my middle ear or inner ear and he said that it was not very common for adults to have ear infections.

When I told my Neurologist about the very clogged feeling in my ear and the odd sensation of having liquid in my ear, he said that he had never heard of such a thing.

I then told the ENT that was very very allergic to dust and smoke. Reason I told him this is I had recently moved out of my tremendously dusty apartment and had been in Southern California when the fires were going on. He said that yeah my sinuses were really inflammed but he suggest that I take sudafed.

I also thought that it was kind of odd that the ENT would not place any importance on my allergies since my Neurologist said that he had no idea why I had a seizure. The Neuro also said that febrile seizures are not very common at all in adults ( I am 33).

Only good thing about this whole ordeal is that as my ear and nose congestion fades my ability to think and remember things is coming back more and more.

Which leads me to believe that while I may of had the flu, I definately was affected in a very bad way by somekind of inflammation in my ears.

Also far as meds:

Right now I am only on seizure meds Dilantin 500 mg at night, Keppra 500 mg in the morning and 500 mg at about 4PM.

Prior to getting sick I was on Hydroclorothiazide and Nasarel.

I was immediately taken off of the Hydro and the Nasarel because
the Hydro drys the body out and the Nasarel allows infections to really take hold for some reason.

I just got some saline solution for my nose to see what it does.

Sorry for the long post. I am still kind all over the place when it come to thinking.

Re: Brain Fog?

I too suffer from "brain fog". I've never heard it described as that, in fact I thought it was just me. But really I do feel "dumb" all the time when I know I am not. My eyes are always wantering and plus I can never breath through my nose so the world is always a blur. Whenever I go out of the house walking, 75 percent of the time I feel like a brick just fell on my head and I just want to go home and lay down or something. Its almost as bad as having a my nose run constantly. I think there needs to be money generated for a cure...all the money goes to AIDS these days...what the funk?

Re: Brain Fog?

I suffered from brain fog, headaches, diarrhea and arthritis like symptoms in my shoulders and hands. Diagnosed with IBS, I tried eliminating all grains and dairy from my diet using the SCD diet and all of my symptoms disappeared (except the diarrhea). I didn't even realize it until I started eating grains again, my throat clearing came back, the pain and swelling in my hands/shoulders came back along with the headaches. Try removing these from your diet, it may help you also. Wheat is a known allergen linked with joint pain, brain fog and more.

Re: Brain Fog?

I am having the same symptoms as you all on here. I too feel like I cant learn as well as i once did. And the only way to desribe it is brain fog. This started after I smoked marijuana for the first time. I wonder why all the others who smoked pot did not go through this afterwards. So i went to the doctor and he gave me some antibiotics. The antibiodics helped a litle and the fog seemed to go away for sometime after a month or so of not smoking pot. Then I smoked pot for a second time and here I am today, feeling the effects of brain fog. I know now that marijuana is the producer of my brain fog as far as I know. My brain fog did not fully go away the first time so hopefully if I lay off weed for a couple of months I will be back to normal. Only time can tell, has anyone had this same problem with marijuana and brain fog?
