Re: thyroid invasion: twogland :)

JB, Refresh my memory. Are you still on antibiotics? I found something on Mary's website. It's under the heading "When drug side effects get out of hand".
Here are the antibiotics that are mentioned:
Tequin (gatifloxacin), Cipro (ciprofloxacin), Floxin (ofloxacin) and Levaquin (levofloxacin). The artical says there are others. These are commonly prescribed for sinus infections.
The possible allergic reactions are numbness & tingling, shortness of breath, pain in hands, knees and legs, weakness in arms and legs, heart palpitations, malaise, panic attacks and anxiety. These are allergic reactions but they sound familiar to hypo and hyper, don't they?
Maybe that's worth checking into if you're still on the antibiotics.
Hope this helps. If not, I'll keep looking. I'm persistant when I'm on a mission.
It's almost 5am and I have not been to sleep yet. So I guess it's time to put my head on my pillow. Good night for me. Good morning for you.
Barb

Re: thyroid invasion: twogland :)

Well, well, well, (said the three holes in the ground) our BLUE surfaced finally. I was so glad to get up this morning and see that name bouncing over the screen here!

Now even if you decide to go underground for what ever reason, Leaky eyes, nose, sneezy fits, 'becoming a woman' you must let us know ahead of time unless you are in dire straits and cannot at all....... welcome back Alexis.

This on line stuff is tricky enough maintaining 'in touch' status (at least it is for me) I feel like I am wasting (not our time) but other folks but then that is me. Cannot talk about Thyroid pills, meds, tests (when I am finished with them) forever....maybe that is my problem. if indeed I have one...which maybe I do not! (she shrugs her two shoulders in unison) forever as it gets repetetive (my thyroid story that is)

My life...well......taint the kind that makes you wanna snooze away whilst trying to prop open your eyes.

Barb, I saw a posting from Iwannalife about adrenal problems. I know by now you have seen she is in the land of postees now too.

PUSHKA hmmmm I rather like the vision of her on the beach in a bikini, playing beach volleyball, or maybe croquett on the lawn behind her home. They are having fires in the Sydney region yet once again..... and that is a worry. Having several (on line) friends in Australia, and Tasmania for years I worry about them sometimes. So maybe our Pushka is indeed sipping cool Bundy and Coke (a type of rum) haha. Maybe Pushka is watching re-runs of a favourite Aussie drama show ACP from where I met my buddies over there (forum group of disgruntled cos the show is not on here in Canada)

Hope she comes back soon, to offer some names for that lady LMS who needs a endo that is trustworthy and informative and not working in the dark ages of endocrinology!

JB have you broached your DD and DH about your hoped for trip to TO? what show is your DD in? My DD manages to see a few things. Last one I saw was Lion King with DD Hubby is not that keen on the "THEATRE" (spoken with cultured hoity toity voice) DD last saw Chicago last autumn and enjoyed it.

I think I shall invent a name for you JB JULIA BUNS JOSEPHINE BARKLEY hmmm

Mary Anne, wouldn't it be absolutely pefect if now because you have had that infamous gland OUSTED from thy body! that all your Hashi stuff, all your medical problems, all the icky things, vanished from thy self? HMMM and all you ever had to do was to take that one magic wee teeny white pill, and not have to juggle stuff around, and do this or do that but the one pill did it all, now that the interference has been removed? HMMMMM Well, I can hope for that can't I?

Chinese New year is on the 22 of this month... (hey that is this Thursday) maybe I will make some 'soyless' won ton soup..... but maybe not!

Ta for now.... long post, so I suggest you do not hit the little reply to button, which puts my posting on your postings... hit the big BLUE one at the very bottom which just gives you the blank 'paper' to write a message....maybe then our stuff won't get lost.....too much words, I am too wordy, you guys are good at reading my manuscripts..

Which reminds me, I must get going on writing the story I am telling in Church this Sunday (last sunday of every month has me at the front 'reading (cos I cannot remember) but reading with OOOOMPH the stories I write for the congregation. about a little boy, and his family.....all based on my life, and dreams...(but they do not know this) hahah

But need to write, gotta be a Biblical type reference...good, bad, honest, etc.... so must hunt through the Book of James (which we are doing in CHurch now) to find a idea for my little "timmy" and his family and friends to get involved with. Someday, ladies you may well see me PUBLISHED wouldnt that be great??? but tis a dream......

BLUE!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Back

I started back on my thyroid meds right away. I lost the initial ten pounds in the 3 weeks between the surgery and my first check up. I wasn't exercising, wasn't watching what I ate (but wasn't going overboard). Until then, I had busted my behind exercising, eating right -and losing nothing.

I've not lost any since then either...but I've been slow getting back to the gym. I started back two weeks ago, went the whole week, then got a sinus infection and stomach flu -yuuuuuck.
I'm going to TRY to get back there starting tomorrow.

JB - There are others -on the board that will tell you that hashi's can be controlled, by supressing your thyroid gland, and then having your body run off of JUST the thyroid meds you take, instead of trying to have the thyroid work in sync with the meds.
That never worked for me -I was up and down a lot. When I was smaller, my thyroid 'behaved' on a little pill for about 8 years. Now...just getting the weight OFF is a career in itself.

You all stay warm today and be safe.

HUGS

Re: thyroid invasion: twogland :)

Hi Ladies,

I didnt get all the e-mail responses that people posted or I would have answered your questions alot sooner.

The RAI is also for cancer, I just took a single uptake today and go back tomorrow for the big stuff.
I needed to go on a low-iodine diet a week before the radiation and I found a cookbook on *****.com so I have been cooking dinners and stuff that I can eat before and after. I have noticed that being on the diet I feel a whole lot worse. I had 2 blankets on and still cold. They don't do hospital stays after the RAI because you have to be all alone. So I rented a hotel room to be all alone and away from my husband and kids, It is going to be a stuggle. When I come home I still have to wash my clothes seprately for 2 wks and do a list of other things that I can't think of right now. I just hope this will work and I don't have to do this again. I hope I answered the right questions. The thing I hate about this is that I have to be on a special diet, no wonder I never went on one before.
