Can you let me know if its ok to take all three at same time?
Thanks

I just asked my doc yesterday about taking all these vitamins and herbs while taking Paxil. He said it was fine. I think taking vitamins is an ongoing thing. I never took vitamins until I started having these peri-meno symptoms. I read that B-12 and B-6 is especially good for the nervous system and anxiety. The doc did say B-12 pills are hard to absorb. ISo, am ordering some B-12 lozenges from ******* Vitamins which is suppose to absorb faster. A friend is taking it and said her energy level increased immediately. I don't feel a thing when I take Magnesium or any of the other vitamins but I do feel something when taking the B vitamins so I make sure I'm taking it with a meal. I am taking the Magnesium because it is one that is emphasized to take while going through this change. I started taking a powder multi-vitamin (All-One Powder) because I can't stand taking so many pills (I'm taking Zinc, Vitamin C, D, E, Complex B, B-6, B-12, Magnesium, black cohosh, Estroven).
I am doing whatever it takes to get through this transition. I hate the way I have been feeling and if I can help myself feel better, I will stick with it. I find that the doctors (especially men docs) don't understand how horrible we feel and can't really do anything for you, except maybe prescribe HRT.
Oh, to AlwaysWorrier: this sudden wave that you mentioned - is it like a "sensation" or rather a chill like shakiness going through your body?
Take care.
Molly

I don't usually feel fatigued, but I've had the internal shakiness before, the dizziness, etc. I used to take Evening Primrose Oil, but different notice any difference from it.

Hi Sunshine,
I'm so sorry to hear your body feel like it's on fire today! It will go away - remember, it is temporary! But, still I can totally understand how you must be feeling when this is happening. I did read on another message board that it is related to the hot flashes even tho you don't feel hot in the face or turn red and sweaty. There has been times when I would be feeling fine, then my arms would start feeling hot.--like my arms are burning. It was happening also to my feet. It would come and go.
I've only experienced hot flashes where it affected my face. Since taking the Black Cohosh, I haven't had night sweats or felt hot in the face. Also, the minute I think I feel an internal shake coming on (which doesn't happen that much anymore) I start walking in place or put on my exercise tape. The Paxil has really helped me managed all this better. Months ago, I would shake almost constantly and be so tired.
How long do we have to deal with all this? I heard it will go on for years!! Such joy! haha!
Molly

I am feeling a little better (my mom is here to help), but feel like I'm going to slip back into anxiety at any moment. Going to the mall or WalMart was making me dizzy and lightheaded. I'm still trying to deal with this craziness. I have been prescribed Klonopin for anxiety--took one night and decided I didn't want to have to rely on meds that could be addictive. Then Rx'ed Lexapro for depression and anxiety--took two nights and it put my arms on fire and gave me nausea. So now I am not on meds and hoping I can get out of this without that crutch. HOWEVER, I am also following the vitamin regime in "Before the Change: Taking Charge of Your Perimenopause" by Ann Louise Gittleman. I really hope it works. You can find an abbreviated version on drphil.com under perimenopause. Apparently his wife suffered terribly and went to 70 doctors before she found one that would help her.
You are not alone! I did speak with a mental health counselor and that did help some (I see her again tomorrow), but I think you will probably have to take charge and exercise, eat right and try the supplements (WalMart had most of them). I've been doing this for a week and feel somewhat better, although still not myself.
Take care and hugs to you.

Thanks for sharing your experience and info. Been a bad day again; lots of panic, nausea, jelly legs, waking up at 2AM with horrible adrenal rushes, etc. I have ordered the book you mentioned since it sounds very interesting. Wow, poor Dr Phil's wife had to see so many doctors before finding help. It's terrible what us women somtimes have to deal with. A friend suggested acupuncture; so I'll see if that helps. Will go in on Monday.
So much interesting reading on this board. Hopefully we can all help each other.

Last year I turned 50 and for the past 5 months, I had been experiencing anxiety, dizziness, lightheadedness, headaches, extreme fatigue, loss of appetite, arms also feel like they are no fire, as well as my hands/feet getting hot and then cold. No energy or interest to do anything but to dwell on how horrible I feel everyday. I also would feel this internal shakiness, jittery-like along with weak jelly legs especially when laying in bed at night, then I started to have aches and pains. I always feel tired when I wake up in the morning too. Like many of you, I went to drs., had tests done, and everything came back normal.
I hate taking meds but I had to go on something. I was taking Ativan 0.5 mg on an as-needed basis. My doc put me on Paxil CR 12.5 mg in December (Ativan is not good for long-term use) which I think helped a lot. I am also mild hypothyroid and have been taking Levoxyl for years. I really think having hypothyroid makes things even more off balance.
Been reading a lot and researching on the Internet but hardly find others with similar symptoms. Am now taking multi-vitamins, especially the B vitamins, magnesium at bedtime, and making sure I do some kind of exercise everyday (yoga, walking tapes). I also take Black Cohosh. Am going to get some Evening Primrose Oil - heard it helps too. Right now, I am feeling much better, have energy and feel more like myself.

I just turned 49 and have all the same symptoms. Am hypothyroid also, taking Unithroid and Armour, but right now it seems like my body can't even handle the meds. They make my anxiety worse. My mother had the same symptoms as we are having, and she never had a thyroid problem. What do you think helped you the most? I had tried Celexa, but it didn't help me. Will see if acupuncture helps with this. Bless you.

Re: Panic Attacks anyone?
I have been where you all are,,,,,, even the dizzy feeling walking through supermarkets.
It started when I was 30, ( I had had a partial hysterectomy at 23 and still had my ovaries) It was hard to get a diagnosis, because there was no bleeding or lack thereof, and it was PERImenopause, which fluctuated,,,my doctor finally took blood once a week for a month and was able to get a really good picture of what my hormones were up to from week to week.
I didn't want to take the klonopin, buspar, or xanax that were perscribed to me either. So I didn't. But I did go on a hormone regimen and am recovered from these terrible symptoms.
I was allergic to all the plant estrogens (all patches and most of the pills) so finally was put on premarin which has been WONDERFULL for me. NO panic attacks . I feel sound minded once again!!
Good LUck to you all; Cheri
