Re: LaynesADDICTION-results?

im actually starting day 2 here so bare with me, im really not that coherent with my self today so ill do the best I can.

sadsister, im so sorry, i keep forgetting your name I actually started in my mid teens but the last 2 years have been bad! I'm 24 now, But listen, if you ever think you're going to fall and I hope and pray to god that you dont, you can get a boxes of sterile needles online at any diabetic store, I am saying this because reusing your own is just as bad as sharing, I have a few friends with endocarditis and they gave up after they found out. And burning them, dipping them, whatever is just going to collapse your viens and you dont want to lose an arm or a leg. Trust me. ....no i have all my limbs...lol

Marcia, As im sure you know, phenobarbitol is a barbiturate and one of the older ones, Klonopin in fact has the effectiveness of .25mg to 160mg of phenobarb, so you would need a LOT of phenobarb to make up for 4mg of klonopin. Now, no i wasnt taking them together, i wasnt taking the klonopon at all and the doctor had me on over 200mg of phenobarb and 2500mg of neurontin. They only give the people who are withdrawing from alcohol valium and I was on opiate detox and having DT's so bad I was starting to forget who "I" was. Plus I was taking oral and transdermal clonidine along with Darvon. And Trazodone at bed time. They made my BP go down to 80. Now this could have put my in acute renal failure so im looking up on that if that was the cause of the damage. Plus my insurance wont pay because I left AMA but my new doctor said If i would have stayed 2 more days I would have been dead, so im fighting that.

What caused your sons liver to fail? Im sorry if you mentioned it but I cant see! This is all very new to me, I actually didnt get that far is school but im learning a lot more now that I have no choice. I've been told the stages of fibrosis before the diagnosis of serosis is made. This was my first "liver" biopsy every so what do I need to look for? All I was told is that, and I know how to read CBC and metobolic blood screens, that my enzymes are staying elevated and they needed check for scaring. Now if it hasn't progressed, I told my self i'd quit drinking and smoking. But, what they did was stick a needle under my ribs and pull a part of the tissue out. I heard nothing yet and complained about not getting a phone call, They said, you dont want a phone call, you want a mailer. I've had these before when I was tested for HBV and HIV and it was a week of hell. I havent thought of it though, for some reason I dont even care and havent checked the mail, but I used to care. I actually requested the exam, he asked me if I wanted it. I've been very sick looking for months, very pale and I cant put on weight. But I've had no sighs of jaundice or redness, my skin is just crayon white. Im going to take a motril and lay down for a while, write back, if anything seems like ti doesnt make sense just make due with it

Cade

Re: LaynesADDICTION-results?

Hey Layne, thanks for responding to my myriad of questions. My son was born with this liver problem but we just never knew he had anything wrong until the day of that vomiting episode. It was a rather shocking and extremely enlightening day let me tell ya.He also, like you had been extremely pale, but he really didn't spend all that much time in the sun so we didn't think anything of it really. He had had some nose bleeds too but just about everyone on my husbands side of the family would get these out of the blue nose bleeds without any real explaination so that was another thing that we really didn't think was a problem either.I even asked his pediatrician about them and she said that given the family history, it was probably nothing to worry about. You wanna hear a shocker? His problem started right after he started the 7th grade, and he needed a physical in order to play sports. He had had a complete physical in late Aug and the s*** hit the fan in early Oct.Unfortunetly we had seen a physicians asst(she was "let go" shortly after my son got sick) and not his actual Doc for the physical and she obviously was not very familiar with just what an enlarged liver and spleen looked like, and she signed off on him and cleared him to play football!Lucky for my son at the last minute, he decided he didn't want to play football so that was certainly a blessing as from what his GI doc told me later, with all of the pressure that he had in his liver and spleen at that time,if he would have taken a direct hit into his stomach, his liver could have very easily just exploded upon impact! that certainly sent a big shiver down my spine. The rapid progression of the scarring to my sons liver is what eventually led to his liver failure. He developed pancreatitis in March of that year and this somehow turned into primary sclerosing cholengitis.Which is basically an extremely hard to treat infection in the bile ducts. Once the Dx of the PSC was made, he was placed on the tx list at a status 3,which isn't very high but his GI doc wanted him on the list so he could accrue time, which can come into play a little further down the line when the Tx commitee is trying to make a decision on just who is going to get this one and only liver that just became availiable. I think what they are looking for with regards to your biopsy is to see just how deep the scarring is in your liver.Don't know that for sure but it would be my best guess. Why haven't you checked your mail? The answer is most likely lying there under your latest electric bill or something. And why don't you care? You must really care on some level or you wouldn't have requested the biopsy.i know that what you are going through is really a bad deal and you feel like crap right now, but with proper treatment(which you wont get if you don't find out just what the results are)you will feel much better. Are you still drinking? If you want the progression of the scarring to stop,it wont happen while you are still drinking. It will only advance the scarring that you are already dealing with. So you are learning the ins and outs of just how to read your labs too.I have become very knowledgable as to just what means what now as my son has to have blood draws once a month now to see how things are going in there. He used to have to have the draws three times a week when he first got out of the hospital,as they are still trying to see if anymore adjustments need to be made with regards to the antirejection meds.once they stabilize, the draws become less and less until you get down to just once a month and then thats where they keep you.I have to run right now,but i really do want to know how things are going for you Cade, okay? please keep me posted.Go check on that pile of mail now,it might not be as bad as you think. Marcia
