Arrow elbow/wrist.... OUCH!

K... so about 5 weeks ago my cousin pushed me off a bed, before i hit the ground i caught myslef with my left hand, putting all my weight down, my elbow bent at like 90 degrees.... he kept pushing till i was off the bed. the next day ( he did it the previous night) I couldn't straighten my elbow, I'd get a sharp shooting pain from my elbow down to my wrist, i figured i pulled a muscle or something. but a few days later it still hurt tons so i went to urgents care.. they took xrays, saw nothing but said that it was most likely a cracked radial (elbow) so they put me in a full arm cast for 10 days and gave me some hydrocodone for pain.

they took the cast off did more xrays and still saw nothing in the xrays. doc told me to start to move my arm slowly and what not.... pain in my elbow was still there just as bad as when it happend, but was now stiff from the cast and now my wrist was killing me too. the pain pills don't work at all.

doc put me in physical therapy, ultrasound, hydrotherapy and parafin bath. these didn't work, made me feel worse.

i've been to the ER several times for pain. it's constantly throbbing in both my wrist and elbow. i get severe intense pains in both spots, and in my fore arm. when i'm resting my arm on my side i can feel something like popping or sliding back and forth while i breathe....

the doc thinks i have RSD, but i'm gonna go get a second opinion before i start all these crazy drugs..

i was thinking maybe ripped or torn tendons???

please help, any ideas???

Re: elbow/wrist.... OUCH!

Hello msdrea83
I agree with you to get a second opinion. Arm injuries really need careful and complete attention because as you say you now have problems with the wrist and it is quite possible too that the shoulder was wrenched around a bit. It's all very well to have physical therapy but if there is not a clear diagnosis what is the therapist to aim for.
My partner has had wrist/elbow/shoulder problems (different to yours) and we have always been grateful that he was sent to an "arm specialist" at the time. It was amazing what they saw with a bone scan (using a dye) as well as ultrasound and MRI, that did not show up on straight x-ray.
Best wishes.
