Re: burning eyes everyday - allergies? HELP!
Glad you're feeling better.
I found Patanol less effective than Livostin, myself.

Thank you.
Now, I've stopped using the Patonol, and just drinking lots of water,
and my eyes feel 90% better. I think the burning was a side effect from all the meds I've been taking (allergy meds and Verapamil - for hbp).
Thank goodness for the Internet... a great resource.

Re: burning eyes everyday - allergies? HELP!
HI - For the past week, I have been having the same problem as the first poster - intense burning and watering eyes, along with puffiness in the mornings (that sometimes lasts all day). I've never had allergies (that I'm aware of) and never had problems with puffiness, until recently. I'm not using any new makeup or shampoo or anything, and this is driving me crazy. I look like a Japanese or something because my eyes are so dern puffy. Plus, I look tired (and I'm not). Anyhoo, I thought I would come to the allergy board and see if ya'll think this is in fact an allergy problem. I can't imagine what else it could be. My nose is not running, and just my eyes are bothering me. Any help is much appreciated! Also, if you do think it is allergies, what should I take? Benadryl or something like that? Thanks!

This probably has nothing to do with the eye problems discussed here, but...... I used to have itchy eyes every day. I found out that if I washed my hands after petting my dog, I no longer had itchy eyes. I rub my eyes occasionally, without even realizing it. So, if I handled something that I was allergic to, like my dog, and then inadvertently rubbed my eyes, I would have itchy problems with my eyes.
On another note. Does Verapamil ever give you long periods of a hard beating heart? When I used to take Verapamil, if I would eat a food with calcium, or take a vitamin with calcium, or take one of my other meds within two hours of Verapamil, it would cause my heart to beat forcefully for hours. Just wondering....

It could be allergies, but it could be other things too: Dry air, dehydration, air pollution ... Try using a humidifier or vaporizor and drinking more water and see if that helps. If it doesn't, see a doctor.
Oh, and if you have an air purifier, that should help too. They can be expensive, though, so I'd check with the Dr. first to see if he thinks it will help. Vaporizors startr at about $10 and humidifiers at about $30.
