don't under treat your asthma

i had asthma since i was 17. never had to go to the hospital. i was always treated by family doc's who just gave me an albuterol inhaler and said use this when you need it. now in my 40's i have unresponsive asthma/copd(same thing) i take heavy flovent, servent and combivent. doctors are hoping with medication to prevent further lung decline. steroids were tried,, but did not improve lung campacity at all. the thinking is from the under treated asthma i have too much scaring in my lungs. I NEVER SMOKED A DAY IN MY LIFE.

Hello:

first if all mCOPD is not the same as asthma. Copd is Chronic Obstreuctive Pulmonary Disease..either emphysemia or chronic bronchitis. I know necause I have COPD. I don't know if you see a pulmonologist, but ask your doctors about Pulmicort. It's an inhaled steriod that goes directly to the lungs. I use it & function much better.

I have asthma and I think COPD. I take Serevent, Flovent and Singulair. Do you know is Pulmicort different from what I'm taking? Thanks.

Have any of you tried Accolate? It has helped me alot. I'm on serevent, flovent, atrovent, alupent and albuterol for my nebulizer. When the serevent and accolate were added I improved quite a bit.
