Cool Medications that can help me while I play Basketball

Hey Folks,
I have been playing basketball for many years until about 3 years ago when i developed asthma. Over the years its gotten worse. Now, i get asthma when i walk, run, play basetball, etc. I have been using an inhaler for about 3 years which helps greatly. I am wondering if their are any other drugs that can surpress my asthma...please let me know...ps: i heard about singular...advice will be greatly appreciated...

thanks

SkiBlue,

What inhaler are you using? If you are referring to a "rescue inhaler" such as Proventil, you should contact your doctor about adding another drug. I was experincing attacks three or four times a day. My doctor added Singulair and my attacks dropped to about once a day. Then he added Advair. I was amazed at what the combination of the two did for me. Now I have an attack about once a month.

SkiBlue, I would suggest a long, serious discussion with your doctor about getting some controller medications in your treatment plan. Asthma should not stop you from playing sports and enjoying life in general. Singular (or Accolate) are good next steps, and perhaps an inhaled steroid. There are quite a few options and everyone is unique in what works for them. Don't settle for less than complete control.
