Post Singular helping?

Hi! I'm scheduled for neck surgery next Monday and am concerned about asthma. I had it as a child and recently have had problems. My doctor put me on Singular a few months ago but I stopped after 2 weeks as I didn't notice a difference. Is it one of those meds that you don't have help for months? Has anyone out there had good response from Singular?

Hi
I took Singulair for about 3 months but it didn't do much for me. Apparently if it's going to work, it'll work quite quickly & the improvement is very noticeable. I was told that it only works for certain types of allergies. I had a horrible side effect too - nightmares!

I have had moderate to severe asthma all my life, with no relief until albuterol came along. The meds that were available didn't do much of anything. I remember Marax. YUCK!
Anyway, I have been on Singulair for a year and a half or so, and have noticed great improvements. Taking it at night as it says to REALLY made a difference in it's effectiveness for me.
It has made it possible for me to do a lot of things I had never been able to explore before, physically.
My doctor, though, yesterday said that I was still using my albuterol inhaler too often (but not nearly as often as before Singulair) and has put me on Advair to aid the Singulair, with the thought of weeding it out later.

I took singulair for about a month (just used the sample the doc. gave me) I never thought it worked either. To: wyldblu_yonder - Did you have to take it a while before it worked? I'm also on advair. Thanks.

I developed asthma as an adult after moving here to Seattle. It's bad too (had ER visits). One would think it was due to allergies, but allergy testing comes up with nothing... don't react to anything at all. Am on Combivent & Advair. Doc added Singulair last year. I was on it for 6 months and noticed utterly no difference at all except having every "rare" side effect listed for the first month or so. I stopped taking it in January because why take more meds and pay more money for nothing. Again, noticed no difference. Asthma didn't get worse (or better) ;-)

So my personal experience was
Singulair = no difference.
