First Intal, now uniphyl (also known as theophylline)is no longer being manufacturered.

Is anyone in this boat? Were you prescribed anything else? If so, please let me know.

Thanks. Mary

There are other brands of theophylline. This drug has been on the market for a while. Not many asthmatics use it, but I still doubt that all of the theophylline brands are being discontinued. Where did you hear that?

Hotchick85: My pharmacist told me that this drug was no longer being manufacturered, and that he had tried other pharmacies, but to no avail. My allergist confirmed it later that week. She said it was the only 24-hour acting pill available. Yes, she can prescribe a medication that I take twice each day.

the only thing I've read about it is that they are taking the OTC pills off the market (primatene tabs). I haven't been taking theophylline, though, so I'm not up to speed on it. I'm sorry that they are taking something off the market that works for you... That's not cool... I'll keep looking into it, though, I'd kinda' like to know WHY they are d/cing it.

Weird. There's nothing on the manufacturer's website (Purdue Pharma) indicating that it's been discontinued.
And the mail-order pharmacy I use still has Uniphyl in stock.
