Question Aricept

I was wondering if anyone is taking Aricept for autism or PDD. My son's neurologist prescribed him this today and I was wondering if anyone has children taking it. My son is 4 yrs old and weighs 63lb and is 43". The Dr. said that the Aricept might decrease his appetite as well as increase his cognitive skills. My son is also on Zyprexa, Seroquel, Celexa, and Tenex. The Zyprexa is making him gain weight but the Dr. doesn't want to take him off of it yet.

So if anyone has any info on Aricept let me know.

Thanks
Hope

Question

Is your son on this now? I just joined the list and I see that Aricept is good for cognition but it's for Alzheimers patients.

Hi wendygayle,

No my son isn't on Aricept yet, I decided to wait until the weekend to start him on it because I don't know how he is going to react. The Dr. said it may make him sleepy or make him a little hyper. I just don't want him to fall asleep in school so that is why I am waiting. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thanks for your reply.
