Re: Narcotic Withdrawal - Inderal?

Maynard, Michelle has it exactly right. You will feel like **** for two or three days, but you be over the hump, so to speak. When is your spring break? That would be a great opportunity to detox. I can honestly tell you, the physical part of the withdrawals will not be any worse than a bad flu that you have had several times in your life. You will be chilled, sweaty, have the runs, but the worst is over in a couple of days. Thereafter, you will be achy and lethargic, so I would, instead of scoring various drugs on your own, is to simply go to your university clinic, come clean and get what you really need, which is some clonidine (which will help with the "flu-like" symptoms, and some tramozol for sleep. Good luck, and I'm here to help. G

Re: Narcotic Withdrawal - Inderal?

thank you all for the advice. I have considered going to my university health center, but am concerned about repercussions. Still, it is probably a good idea, and it can't hurt to go and ask for information.

Inderal is related to clonidine, they are in the same class of drugs - beta blockers. So thats the reason i'm asking about it, since I know where to find it and wouldn't need to see a doctor to get prescribed it, as I would for clonidine. That opens a whole host of problems.

That said, I have tonight been speaking to a friend who has a problem with heroin (whereas prescriptions have been my ailment), and he has found a nearby hospital offering buprenorphine detox. This is very interesting to me. I am going to contact this hospital in the next few days and maybe go in for an evaluation. I have an insurance card, since i'm on my parents insurance, and this brings up another very important question for me:

How will this bill come up on my insurance? If i go to this hospital and they decide to put me on buprenorphine maintnance - I would only want to do a week to two week MAX on the bupe - I really can't afford it if I have to pay in cash (since its 250 dollars or more for this service). However, I believe my insurance will cover it. That said, i dont know if it will say "XXX General Hospital - $250" on the insurance, or "DRUG DETOX". The former is perfectly fine, as an easy explanation could be given, but the latter is unacceptable. If this is the case I may have to bill it to my credit card and explain the charge to them some other way.

Thanks for your advice, and thanks in advance for the advice to come

Re: Narcotic Withdrawal - Inderal?

OH, another thing occured to me. I'm not sure what you all will think about this, but in all honesty, I have to do what I can do avoid being sick and to stay functional enough to study for my upcoming exams. To clarify - Oxycodone is what I have been mainly having problems with, taking it daily. I discovered, in addition to the other things I listed, that I have a bunch of sample packets of Ultram - Tramadol HCL. This is a partial opiate I believe and I know i've read some stories on boards of people getting addicted even to IT. This will help me with the withdrawals, right? I should be able to taper with it? I've noticed, the few times i've taken it when i've been sick, that it helps, but it certainly doesn't take all the bad feelings away, nor does it make me high at all. It just seems to ease some of the pain.

Any suggestions regarding any of this?
