Re: So Depressed: Looks I have two boils on my forehead

JustBlaze!!! i also must thank you! we must have submitted our posts simultanesouly b/c I didn't see ya! first off, i wish ya the best of luck with accutane! if i keep getting these horrid breakouts I may consider it as well. but these 2 blemishes are not common for me. I mean i can handle the once in a while pimples that have whiteheads and are gone in a few days... but these suckers are unbearable! but your advice is great and i will consider accutane if it presists! thank you for your suggetions and support!

Re: So Depressed: Looks I have two boils on my forehead

Well things are looking a little better today. The smaller of the two "boils" has gone down a lot and its just slightly pink. And the HUGE ONE is still RED but it isn't as swollen/imflammed as it was yesterday. Covering it up is still quite difficult but still it is a little easier. Hopefully by next week things will be "back to normal". Im gettin a peel so hopefully it will also help. Thanx again for everyones advice, it was greatly appreciated

Even my mother (who has always been supportive) says they are huge and I should try to "hide them" with my hair.
I mean before these two blemishes, my face was CLEAR and then in a matter of days I get these two GIGANTIC blemishes. They are also so red and extremely hard to conceal. They are extra shinny compared to my skin. And they give me horrid headaches. I'm so depressed. I have a date tomorrow and I'm going to have to make something up and cancel. My confidence level has gone from an extreme high to an extreme low. I also believe these bad boys are gonna stick around for a long time. There is no white head forming on either... but I really hope they do get the head white. The HUGE one even has no skin on it.. my skin is broken around it just so the monster could "push through" and become visible. I am so depressed....
I keep looking in the mirror like every 5 minutes.. and I just so disgusted at myself. My phone is ringing right now and its a friend who wants to hang out and I'm ignoring the call b/c i don't want him to see me like this
I'm sorry for venting but I have to get these off my chest. My family and friends would not understand. Any advice, tips, words of kindness, or even "slaps of reality" would be appreciated.
My two cents:
It sounds to me like your two friends would benefit by cortisone injections.
Ask your derm about it. You would need to do that right away because it's most beneficial if injected within the first few days after they arrive.

Good luck

Re: So Depressed: Looks I have two boils on my forehead

UPDATE: Well the monster has gone down a lot and is now peeling. It is now a pink color but a bump is still there...
But I am really interested in these cortisone injections. I will have to ask my derm about it. Anyone have any luck with them... any experiences? How much? Any downfalls?

I have gotten 4 injections in my time. They were all awesome fixes. I would get the injection and within about 5-8 hours I could already tell the cyst was feeling better. By the next morning they were noticeably smaller and within the next two days they were nothing but a distant memory. The first 3 injections were by one derm and the most recent was by another. The last one did leave me with a divet and discoloration. Probably meant he used a little too much I guess. I didn't get that with the first 3. That divet and discoloration last maybe 4-6 weeks after. It's completely resolved now.
And that divet was much better than having to deal with the original perpetrator. The medication used is called Kenalog. It's a steroid/antibiotic I do believe (do not quote me on that). I'm told they are only effective if you get them within the first two or three days of the initial appearance of a cyst. But I know I have gotten it after that first 3 days and it has worked just fine. I asked my derm for a standing order for the injections. Meaning "Can I call in the morning and get in that day." I turn desparate when these things arrive. lol

Hope this helps.
Good luck!
