Another Minocyclin question

I've been on Minocycline in the past for about 2 years at 50mg 2x per day so I'm no stranger to it. Just started on it again due to cystic acne on back, but this time my Dr. gave me 100mg for 2x per day. It has been almost 3 weeks and I am drifting into vertigo every day since starting it again and it is greatly effecting my work and bodybuilding. I know there will be an adjustment period, but I never had a 3-4 week plus adjustment period. Anyone know if this is common. I wont even bother lowering dose cause when I was at 50mg my acne wasnt nearly as bad and it didnt even clear it all up. I have noticed improvement thus far, but can I expect sides to subside? Also, Im not a big drinker, but does drinking reduce the effectiveness of antibiotics?

Re: Another Minocyclin question

Also, could I avoid these effects by taking 200mg only before bed as apposed to 100mg AM & PM? It seems to be the morning dose that screws me up

Re: Another Minocyclin question

My boyfriend was on minocyclin for a month or so, and developed horrible hives. His doctor took him off it fast. I would consider vertigo to be a pretty serious side effect. How are you supposed to drive or function normally? If I were you, I'd take a different approach.

Re: Another Minocyclin question

What other approach may you suggest? I have been on Duricef and Erythromycin before with no sucess, have used Retin-A gel and micro, Differin, Plexion, Duac, and am currently using Brevoxyl 4%, T-stat, and Cleocin T solution on top of the Minocyclin. I have tried many things with no sucess, including OTC cleansers and such as well as several holistic treatments (B-5, etc.) The topicals and cleansers work good but not good enough to reduce the cystic, painful, unsightly, scar causing acne on my back. Which is what led me to ask if taking 200mg 1x before bed would be ok such as to avoid the dizzy vertigo feeling. I have inquired about Accutane to my derm, but my liver enzymes were elevated so he denied me the treatment.
