Question Yasmin-- month 4.5 -- questions

I started yasmin at the beginning of december --continually --skipping the white pills week --and did notice this seems to be the only thing that has helped, and has made my skin less oily...here are my concerns though..

~i know weight loss is common for this specific pill---but did anybody gain weight? I have gained some but am not positive it is the pill, since i lost weight the first 2 months.

~does it eventually stop working like antibiotics do?

~when did you see yyou best results--after how many months?

~how long were your breast sore/swollen? IVe gained almost a full cup size--which im actually loving since i was barely an A-cip before. i hope it lasts!

--id say i see a drastic improvement, yet i still consider myself to have problem skin. right now i have a couple breakouts..on jawline and one on cheek....prior to yasmin i had more alternating of good/bad skin weeks and some cystic (zero cystic now)---which meant red spots never got time to heal like they do now, and my skin was more oily.....i guess the true measure of this success for me has been ive left the house w/ out makeup--a big step...im just paranoid it wont last like everything else

Re: Yasmin-- month 4.5 -- questions

I gained some weight, maybe 5 pounds, MOSTLY in my chest, which stinks because I am a C cup normally and I just don't need anymore BOOB in my life!

For me, Yasmin did stop working, about 9 months in, and I developed cystic acne all over my chin and cheeks. I am not sure if it was just that pill or the fact that I was skipping my periods, like you are, but once I started skipping them, it definitely got worse.

I switched to Zovia about a month and a half ago and my face has improved dramatically. I am healing from an old breakout still, which left some red spots and dry skin, but I have had only one or two new spots in over a month and neither of those are cystic.

I hope the Yasmin works for you and I am sure that it is a miracle for some, but for me, it was the worst. If you begin developing a lot of chin and jawline acne all of a sudden, I would think about talking to your OBGYN and maybe switching. I only had about 4 months of completely clear skin on the Yasmin.

I know everyone is different, but that is just my experience.

What is Zovia? A BCP?

I began developing a lot of chin and jawline acne all of a sudden my 3rd month into yasmin. Also got alot of chest acne and acne on the sides of my neck (strange place to get it) I tried ortho tri cyclen, that did very little. I'm hating this yasmin. Although my derm says it's one of the best out there, I have to diagree. I would like to learn more about Zovia if you have additional info. Thanks. Laurie

You have to be patient! Don't stop it now! It could make the situation worse! My cousin that after 4 months, she hasn't had one pimple! But at first she got a couple! Just don't give up!

I agree with Sable....you are going to have an initial breakout with any pill, so you might want to stick with the Yasmin for right now. Some people have great results with it.

Zovia is just another pill, the generic for Demulen. The difference is that Yasmin combines drospirenone, a progestogen derived from spirolactone with ethinyl estradiol, which serves as the estrogenic component. Zovia does not contain drospirenone, which I believe I had a bad reaction to.
