Unhappy Severe heartburn... could it be allergies?

Hi there,
I'm fifteen years old and I've been suffering from something for a month and a half now. At first, I thought that my symptoms were classic anxiety attacks (or at least my mom did), however there wasn't anything really bothering me. As the symptoms progressed, I started to wonder what the problem could be.

It started in early November, I ate one bite of food and had terrible pain, mostly on the left side of my chest. I felt like I was having a hard time breathing (yet I had enough breath to talk). I went to the ER the next night, they told me I most likely pulled a muscle in my chest. I was on Parafon for five days, and it didn't really clear up the symptoms.

I felt okay for about two weeks, and then I started feeling absolutely horrific. Every time I breathed in, I felt a cracking in my chest (not just regular wheezing). I felt like somebody had their foot on my chest, but yet again, I still had enough air to talk and breathe. I started feeling like there was a lump in my throat, first it was okay and then it got progressively worse. Then came the heartburn. It was so bad that I missed a week of school because I felt like I couldn't even get off the sofa.

I've seen three doctors, and they're still not exactly sure what's wrong with me. My pediatrician, the first time I came in, thought I was making my symptoms up. The next time I came in, however, he realized that my symptoms were pretty severe. He put me on Nexium, which has helped with the heartburn a lot. I still feel a lot of pressure on my chest, though. My ENT put me on Medrol to heal up the inflammation in my throat.

Two days ago, I started having really bad postnasal drip. I don't think I have a cold, so the postnasal drip is definitely not caused by a cold. Could it be caused by an allergy or heartburn?

I was thinking it was allergies because my dad suffers from pretty bad allergies and asthma (I also have asthma) and also because in August, we adopted a VERY fluffy, long-haired dog. Before this dog, we had a short-haired one and I never had problems with him. Also, I was wondering if it is allergies... why it would be working up three months after we got the dog. My dad said he suffered from some of the same symptoms that I feel. I have an appointment with my dad's allergist on Wednesday.

Has anyone suffered from symptoms such as this with allergies? I would appreciate any help that anyone is able to give! I also posted on the Digestive Disorders board because at first, I thought it could be Achalasia or Hiatal Hernia or the beginning of Chron's Disease (there's a 25% chance of me having it since my sister has it).

Thank you,
Haileigh
