Did they do the right test?

I don't see the Rheum yet for about 3 weeks for the first visit. My new Neurologist ran some tests himself though earlier this month/last month.

He ordered SSA and SSB. However the lab did a "parent test" instead of doing what he ordered.

The paper says this:
-------
Anti ext nuc ag abs
AB to extractable nuclear ag

A negative result for this test means there are no detectable antibodies to SSA, SSB, U1RNP, Sm, Sc1 70 or Jo 1 antigens.
-------

Is that correct, current testing? The Neuro was real upset, he doesn't know if that is correct. He was mad they didn't just runt he two test he wanted done. He's trying to rule out some stuff, scleroderma, sjogrens for now. Then he's letting the Rheum decide if I have Lupus or whatever it might be.

My ANA was still 1:320 Speckled again. But this week I got to start prednisone therapy.. ahhh relief. It's only 5mg a day, but it is easing the pain and agony off for about 12 hours a day. In addition to that, I can see again. My vision issues (color blind, blurriness, double vision, eye pains) are all eased up quite a bit. Still some troubles, but nothing as bad. I can see things! I can walk a lot better too during the day!

My RA test was negative
SED rate was normal (Sometimes it's elevated, but not 4 weeks ago)
Cryoglobuline was negative

No other tests done, since I'm going to a research hospital and they'll just do all the tests again anyway so he decided to not put me through being stuck this week, just to have to be re stuck again in three weeks for more blood.

Edit: Oh wait, he did Thyroid test too, which was normal. He thought that was why I am losingmy hair eek. I can't pin my hair up anymore, the temples are all receeding and ugh.. I wear a hat when we go out of the house too I hate weraing hats haha

Re: Did they do the right test?

The lab was just plain wrong to not do the tests the doctor ordered. He needs to let them hear about it. The rheumy will order a bunch of tests and go from there. I feel your pain about the hair loss. Mine is thinning all over and I have a couple of bald spots. I've had to become a hat person, too.
