1 level ALIF Dec 29th HELP ME PLEASE!

Hey all,
I have a 1 level ALIF on Dec. 29th. L5 S1. (as long as the vascular "guy" is OK w/that date) How long is the hospital stay typically? I am reading other stories for helpful hints, etc...but just have that quick question.
Can I plan on spending new years eve in a hospital bed?? I don't care really....I just want this done...the pain is completely ruining my life right now.

I'm sorry Shak:

I have no experience with this. I'm still trying to figure out what all the Letters stand for ...I've seen PLIF and now ALIF... I know Anterior and Posterior and I'm guessing the "L" is lumbar and "F" is fusion, but have no clue as to the "I".

No help from me, I only had a discectomy, but do want to tell you that you will be in my thoughts and prayers......and good luck to you on getting your answer...There are wonderful folks on this board....I'm sure your answer will be comming soon.

oooppss....ALIF mean Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion...
so yes it's a fusion and it's sorta freakin me out!

I have to have that done as soon as W/C approves it and the doctor said 2-3 days.
